Abstract
A golf club cleaner with a compact steel vessel which can contain water and which houses brushes that can be manually driven. The vessel may be include an access hole at its top and may house a pair of identical roller brush assemblies linked by interlocking spur gears and driven by a handle. A clip may be provided which can engage with a lip of a golf bag such that it allows the cleaner to swivel. A foldable steady plate may be provided on the bottom of the cleaner which can be fastened to a golf bag by a hook and loop belt which can pass through the plate. The brushes and their shafts may be made of Nylon. The system may be operated by inserting a golf club between the brushes and rotating the drive handle and may also be used for cleaning golf balls.
Description
Club Cleaner
Description
Field
This invention relates to a hand operated environmentally friendly, compact detachable cleaning device for golf clubs and balls.
Background
A continuous problem in the game of golf is the efficient removal of debris from the clubs and ball; the quicker this is carried out the better the game can be played.
Statement of invention
The Club Cleaner unit is designed to be used by the Golfer whilst playing golf to keep clubs clean during the game. It is small and light enough to be used by the Golfer who prefers to carry their bag. Alternatively it can be used with a trolley with no modification at all. In preparation for use haifa litre of water is added to the unit at the start of play The device cleans the clubs by the golfer inserting the hon in to the unit between the two cleaning brushes and rotating the crank handle with one hand while holding the Iron with the other. The grooves and the face of the Iron clean quickly with just a few turns of the handle.
Golf Balls can also be cleaned, the ball is placed on top of the brushes and light pressure applied pushing the ball down whilst turning the handle anti-clockwise, The ball is easily swallowed into the unit and cleaned with one turn of the handle, turning the handle clockwise the cleaned ball is ejected from the unit. The hanging clip swivels, hence the unit can always be in the level position at any angle the bag sits at
on the field.
The cleaner can be used by either handed player as it will hang on either side of most golf bags.
After removing the Velcro belt from around the bag, the unit can then be unhooked from the bag, the swivel hook returned to the vertical, this releases the Steady Plate and allows the plate to fold beneath the unit making the unit (when emptied), ready to be securely stowed within one of the bags pockets.
The entire unit is made of various metals which are powder coated on all faces, making it totally rust proof.
