Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a portable golf ball scrubber, and more particularly, to a portable golf ball scrubber with which a person who is playing golf can easily remove foreign substances adhered to a golf ball by himself or herself.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art
  • Foreign substances, such as sand, dust, water, etc., which are adhered to a golf ball make it difficult to control the direction, carry distance, spinning force or the like of a golf ball, and cause the golf club to be damaged, so that a clean ball is required in order to boost the performance of the golf hit.
  • The technology concerning a scrubber for sports ball is disclosed in Korean Unexamined Utility Model No. 1995-32325 entitled “Scrubber for billiard balls”, and Korean Utility Model Registration No. 269825 entitled “Scrubber for golf balls”. However, the disclosed scrubbers are not portable devices, but large apparatuses, which wash a number of balls, so that they are expensive and require a wide area.
  • In playing golf, a golfer needs to remove foreign substances adhered to a golf ball upon every use thereof to boost his/her golfing performance. Generally, such foreign substances adhered to a golf ball are removed using a towel or the like by caddie. However, in the case where a golfer is not accompanied by a caddie, he/she has to remove the foreign substances by himself/herself. In this case, the golfer cleans the golf ball using his/her one hand while holding the golf club using the other hand, so that it is inconvenient to clean the golf ball.
  • In order to solve this problem, the applicant proposed a portable golf ball scrubber in Korean Utility Model Application No. 2007-8561. While the scrubber can easily remove foreign substances using only one hand, a scrubbing bag composed of towel fabrics has poor durability and is likely to become wet in rainy weather, which renders its use problematic.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Accordingly, the present invention has been made keeping in mind the above problems occurring in the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a portable golf ball scrubber, by which a person who is playing golf can easily remove foreign substances adhered to a golf ball using only one hand by himself or herself, thereby preventing the foreign substance from making it difficult to control the direction in which the ball travels, the carry distance, the spinning force or the like of a golf ball, and preventing the golf club from becoming damaged.
  • A further object of the present invention is to provide a portable golf ball scrubber which does not become wet in rainy weather so that scrubbing can be continuously carried out irrespective of variance in weather conditions.
  • In order to achieve the above objects, according to an aspect of the present invention, a portable golf ball scrubber includes a bag and a fixture, the bag having an inner water-absorbent sheet composed of ultra-fine polyester fabric and an outer waterproof sheet, and an upper mouth of which is composed of a resilient band, and a lower end of which is of a hemi-spherical shape, the fixture being mounted on an upper portion of the bag and having an attachment and a hook or a clamp, which is detachably installed, wherein the attachment and the hook or clamp are made of metal, and at least one of which includes a magnet, by which the attachment and the hook or the clamp are connected together.
  • In the portable golf ball scrubber, since the bag serves to receive therein a golf ball and remove foreign substances adhered thereto, the bag's body is formed cylindrically, and has a diameter slightly larger than that of a common golf ball, i.e. 42.7 mm, so as to facilitate taking in and out the golf ball, and a lower end of which is shaped like a hemi-sphere so as to uniformly clean all over the golf ball. Further, in order to prevent the golf ball placed in the bag from removing itself from the bag while being touched for cleaning, an upper mouth of the bag preferably comprises a resilient band, e.g. a rubber band.
  • The inner water-absorbent sheet of the bag is composed of ultra-fine polyester fabric with excellent water absorbency and durability to thereby improve the performance of scrubbing. The outer waterproof sheet of the bag prevents the scrubber from getting wet even in rainy weather.
  • The fixture includes the attachment, which is attached to the bag, and the hook or the clamp, which serves to fix the scrubber to clothing. The attachment is connected near the upper mouth of the bag. The hook or the clamp is integrally or separately provided on the attachment. In the latter case, the attachment and the hook or the clamp are made of metal, and at least one of which includes a magnet so as to allow the attachment and the hook or the clamp to be connected together.
  • In use, the portable golf ball scrubber is fixed to clothes using the hook or the clamp, the dirty golf ball is put in the bag via the mouth and is cleaned by scrubbing the ball with the bag using a hand, and then the scrubbed golf ball is taken out from the bag via the mouth.
  • According to the present invention, the bag comprises the inner water-absorbent sheet, composed of ultra-fine polyester fabric, and the outer waterproof sheet, so that the scrubbing performance is excellent, and there is no fear of getting wet even in rainy weather. Further, the lower end of the scrubber is provided to have a hemi-spherical shape, so that the golf ball is cleaned uniformly. The upper mouth of the bag is composed of a resilient band, preventing the golf ball removing itself from the bag. Further, the hook or the clamp allows the golfer to conveniently carry the portable golf ball scrubber. Further, since a golfer who is playing golf can easily remove foreign substances adhered to the golf ball using only one hand by himself or herself, thereby preventing the foreign substance from making it difficult to control the direction of flight of the ball, the carry distance, the spinning force or the like of the golf ball, and preventing the golf club from becoming damaged.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The above and other objects, features and other advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a portable golf ball scrubber having a detachable fixture; and
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view illustrating a portable golf ball scrubber having a fixed fixture.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Reference will now be made in greater detail to a preferred embodiment of the invention, an example of which is illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
  • As illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, a portable golf ball scrubber according to the present invention includes a bag 20 and a fixture 30. An upper mouth 21 of the bag is formed with a resilient band 22, so that the mouth is normally tightened as in the left figure of FIG. 1 so as to prevent the ball from falling out of the bag, and upon putting in or removing the ball, the mouth is loosened as in the right figure of FIG. 1. A lower end 23 of the bag is shaped like a hemi-sphere so as to scrub the ball uniformly. Further, the bag consists of an inner water-absorbent sheet 24 for scrubbing the ball 15, and an outer waterproof sheet 25 for preventing it from getting wet when used under rainy conditions.
  • In FIGS. 1 and 2, the fixture 30 includes an attachment 31 which is attached to the upper end of the bag, and further one of a hook 321 and a clamp 322 for fixing and carrying the scrubber to clothing. In FIG. 2, the attachment and the hook or the clamp are integrally formed into one piece, so that the piece can be directly connected to the upper mouth of the bag. Meanwhile, as illustrated in FIG. 1, the attachment and the hook or the clamp may be detachably combined. Here, the attachment and the hook or the clamp are made of metal, and at least one of which includes a magnet so as to allow the scrubber and the clothes to be connected together using magnetic force of the magnet. In such a detachable type, it is very easy to connect and disconnect the bag to and from the clothing, so that the use thereof is more convenient than the fixed type.
  • Although a preferred embodiment of the present invention has been described for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims.
