Abstract

A display frame of the type used in conjunction with a transport case, item of luggage or a like container to hold graphics, artwork, signage or an owner's identity tag comprises includes a transparent viewing panel 4 and an exterior frame 2 that sits proud of the viewing panel and is secured to the surface of the transport case, item of luggage or the like by fixing devices 3. A void for the graphics, artwork, signage or an owner's identity tag 6 is defined between the surface of the transport case, item of luggage or the like and the viewing panel. The frame may be provided with gaskets or seals 5 to protect the graphics, artwork, signage or an owner's identity tag from outside elements. In one embodiment, the viewing panel is pivotally attached to the frame by a hinge 5 along one edge thereof. The display frame may be fixed to a transport case, item of luggage or the like within a recess in an outer surface thereof so as to allow the display frame to sit proud, flush or below the plane of the outer surface. In use, the display frame allows the user to customize the appearance of a transport case, item of luggage or the like so as to make it more readily identifiable.

Description

DISPLAY FRAME FOR CONTAINER OR CASE.
DESCRIPTION.
This concept allows a container, or any type of case including suitcase, briefcase, musical instrument case, laptop case, computer case, storage case, medical case, sports case, pannier cases, tool case, hand bags, back-packs, school bags to hold a display frame on one or more of its surfaces.
The display frame suitably protects the artwork /image(s) / wording / graphics / signage and allows the container or case to show a piece(s) of artwork or wording for uses including; 1. IDENTIFICATION. (cases can easily be identified at airports, stations etc).
2. FASHION.
3. SECURITY.
4. DECORATION.
5. HEALTh AND SAFETY.
6. ADVERTISING.
Some of the benefits for this concept are; 1. It allows the owner of the container or case to personalise it with their own choice of artwork / wording.
2. A display frame can either be manufactured into / onto or attached later onto one or more surfaces of the container or case to customise its appearance.
3. The artwork / wording is interchangeable.
4. The display frame can be different sizes.
5. The display frame can be different shapes.
6. The display frame can be different colours.
7. The display frame can be attached anywhere on the container or case.
8. The artwork / wording can be easily changed whenever needed.
9. Gaskets and or sealants can be used to make the artwork etc waterproof.
10. Different materials can be used to make the display frame.
11. The case can be made with or without a recess or recesses.
12. The display frame can be flexible.
The display frame allows the artwork / image(s)! wording to be held securely in place, sandwiching the picture between the container or case surface and the underneath of the display frame, a transparent or laminate viewing panel can protect the image(s).
The display frame is securely attached to the container with the use of a fixing device(s) and it allows the purchaser to change the artwork / image(s) / wording I graphics / signage whenever they choose to do so.
The display frame allows the purchaser to easily recognise his / her container, for example at the airport carousel, allowing them to choose whatever image or wording they want to display.
The concept of attaching a display frame to one or more of the surfaces of a container or case can be achieved either by applying a retro-fit display frame, this can customise the appearance and could be bought separately as an add-on to an existing container or case or the display frame can be manufactured specifically for a particular container in the manufacturing process.
The surface(s) of the container or case can have one or more recesses to allow the display frame to fit above, flush or below the container or case surfaces.
We came up with concept after noticing the chaos waiting for our luggage every time we went on holiday. People rushed to grab someone else's luggage simply because theirs looked similar to someone else's.
We now know this concept can be used in many more areas, some already mentioned above, but I (Andrew Lawton) have played in a brass band for over thirty years and have played at many concerts in the U.K and abroad. In this time there have been numerous occasions where the wrong instrument(s) have been mistakenly taken by someone with the same insrument case. This concept will hopftilly eradicate this problem, we know people can attach a sticker or a strap to identify their container or case, but this concept differs because the artwork or wording is protected, unlike the strap (which could come lose) or the sticker which gets scratched and damaged.
The uses for this concept are numerous and the product would have great commercial potential as it allows buisineses to advertise on their case, also the product can be purchased to add onto an existing case or container (retro-fit). Any holes that need drilling could easily be done with the use of a template.
This concept would also be very useful in the use of medical containers or cases, it would be a safe way of labelling them, especially with all the health and safety issues.
FIGURE 1: A display frame for container or case, may be a suitcase which attaches onto a container or case surface(1). An exterior frame (2) is attached to viewing panel (4), the said frame and viewing panel are aligned onto gasket / sealant (5) using holes for fixing members. The said frame / viewing panel and gasket I sealant can now be placed on surface (1) in the recess, aligned with the fixing holes. The display frame can now be secured in place using fixing device(s) (3) which can be passed through and be affixed to said surface thereby locating said display frame to said surface. The artwork, wording, graphics, signage, image(s) can be sandwiched in the void (6) between the viewing panel (4) and the container or case surface (1). To change the artwork displayed, remove said fixing device(s), the exterior frame, viewing panel, it can now be lifted from the recess in the container or case surface.
The display frame for container or case will keep the chosen design waterproof and protect the artwork and it will allow the container or case a unique and individual appearance, the artwork can be changed as many times as required.
The above display frame for container or case can be fitted to a container or case without the recess in the container or case surface using the same process where the said display frame can sit proud on the surface. If the drilling of any holes is required a template may be used to mark the holes for any fixing devices to pass through. Any reinforcement needed can be fitted on the inside of container or case, these could be in the form of a backing plate or plates, or washers.
NB. This design can be specifically manufactured onto a container or case or it can be fitted onto an existing container or case to customise its appearance.
