Abstract
A foldable dip exercise station consists of two main angled supports each with feet and handrails with fixed supports and a single pivot point allowing the station to fold in a scissor action.
Description
Title: Foldable Dip Station
Background:
Currently there are a limited number of dip stations/stands available on the UK market and what's more they are mainly large bulky items that require a large amount of space to be taken up and cannot be folded to minimise storage space.
Statement of Invention:
To overcome this space issue the proposed dip station will allow the user to fold the station up preventing it from taking up too much space. The space required to house the foldable dip station will be minimal allowing users to maintain floor space. The dip station due to its design enables it to become portable and can be easily be moved due to small dimensions once folded.
The invention entails a single pivot point allowing the station to be folded until both supports meet creating a flat, narrow product.
Advantages: 1. Allows users to perform a dip exercise and other exercises for increasing strength, fitness and size of various muscles.
2. Provides a solution to carrying out muscular/fitness activities in surroundings where space is limited.
3. The design allows easy movement of the station and portability.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows a frontal view of the dip station Figure 2 shows a side view of the dip station Figure 3 shows a view from the top of the dip station Figure 4 shows a 3D view of the station Figure 5 shows the pivot bush design Figure 6 shows different designs regarding the supports Figure 7 shows the dip station folded for storage, portability and space saving
Detailed Description:
The design consists of two main uprights 1 of a chosen size and strength. At one end of these the feet 2 will be attached. The feet will be constructed from round bar of a chosen length and thickness. The first foot will be attached at a specific point on the end of the upright, as this will construct the front upright 3. The second foot 4 will be attached to suit the position of the first foot so that when the dip station is folded the feet are the same length and position (however these could be made staggered to reduce costs and manufacturing time). On the opposite ends of the uprights the handrails 5 will be attached.
These will be constructed out of a suitable material to provide strength and rigidity. The front upright handrail 6 will be of a chosen length and attached at the top of the upright however the handrail of the rear upright 7 will be made longer (e.g. the width of the upright will be added to the length of the handrail) to align the position of the handrails as to provide a level, horizontal platform for the user. To provide the strength and prevent the station from collapsing there will be two supports 8 attached to each upright at the chosen position creating the perfect angle to carry out the exercise. These could be constructed of bar similar to the feet and handrails or using a different shape such as triangular, square or rectangular supports. The length of the supports will be 2 x width of the upright and will be attached flush with one edge of the uprights as to protrude out to provide a stop/support for the opposite upright.
There will be a hole drilled through the uprights where they meet and a single nut and bolt (with or without bushes) will be used to connect both sections 9.
This will provide the pivot point for this design and allow the dip station to fold into its closed position. The handrails will have anti-slip grips; the feet may have captive covers to hide the holes in the foot bars and to provide grip. The supports and handrail ends will have a plastic cap to hide the inside of the round bar.
Claims (4)
- Claims: 1. A folding dip exercise station allowing the user to perform exercises once opened then once finished, the device can be folded together with the use of a single pivot point.
- 2. A folding dip exercise station according to claim 1 where both supports can fold together until touching with the use of a scissor action.
- 3. A folding dip exercise station according to claim I with a two-piece design.
- 4. A folding dip exercise station according to claim 1, which uses two fixed supports to bare the load.
