Abstract

A system compromising an accelerometer 2 and data logger 3 is attached to an elevator 1 and is utilised to measure, collect and store acceleration data for subsequent transmission to a remotely located computer-based data analyser 5 for the purpose of measuring and monitoring the operation of a lift. The communication link between data transmission equipment 4 and the data analyser 5 may be a telephone line, mobile telephone network, wireless network or the internet. The data analyser 5 may transmit data to the accelerometer 2 and data logger 3.

System for Measuring and Monitoring the Acceleration of a Lift (or Elevator)
Description:
The invention is a system for measuring and monitoring the operation of a lift (or elevator) by the measurement and collection of acceleration data generated during the operation of a lift. The invention comprises an accelerometer, a data logger and a communication link to remotely located computer-based data analyser.
The data collected by the accelerometer is stored on a data logger. The data logger subsequently transmits the acceleration data to a remotely located computer-based data analyser.
The data can be transmitted to the remotely located computer-based data analyser by several means, including telephone line, mobile telephone network, wireless network or the internet.
The function of the system is to provide data to facilitate the identification of faults, problems or anomalies relating to the operation of a lift. Additionally, the system facilitates the resolution (or trouble shooting) of faults, problems or anomalies and provides a record of the operation of a lift.
The remotely located computer-based data analyser can transmit data to the accelerometer and data logger.
