Abstract

A bayonet lamp holder has a neutral contact 2, a switched live contact 3, and an additional contact 4 connected to a constant source of power. This allows a light bulb to be switched, while allowing a fire alarm or smoke alarm to receive constant power. The lamp holder may have a further contact (25, Fig 3) and/or make a connection through the base 30. A corresponding device 40 has a bayonet type cap 45 and incorporates a fire or smoke alarm and a further bayonet or screw type socket 42 for a bulb.
