Abstract

A cleaver for chopping and slicing vegetables and joints of meat comprises a sharp point on its lower front corner. The point can be used for more delicate piercing tasks and preferably has an angle of 45 degrees. In a second embodiment the point is created by cutting an undercut into the front edge of the blade, which means the point is protected by the front edge.

Improved Meat Cleaver Blade
Description
The invention relates to the front lower corner of a standard meat cleaver blade. This is the part of the blade between the cutting edge and the front vertical part of the blade usually perpendicular to the cutting edge. The invention adds a small sharp point to this part of the blade.
A meat cleaver is used primarily for chopping and slicing vegetables and joints of meat. However because of the blunt tip it cannot be used for more delicate piercing tasks. For such tasks the user must use a sharp pointed knife such as a paring knife. This invention combines the unique qualities of the long established and much proven meat cleaver with the extra functionality of a small paring knife.

Fig. B. Shows the side elevation of a standard meat clever with the small point added. This is the second preferred embodiment. With this version the small sharp point has been created by cutting an undercut in to the front edge of the blade thus creating a shrouded or protected small sharp point.
