Abstract
A hair straightening iron comprises at least one arm having a ceramic hot plate 2 for heating and straightening hair 6 and a thermo-electric cooling plate 1 that cools the hair once it has been straightened. The iron may further be provided with a heat sink 4 and vents 5. Preferably, the ceramic hot plate is smooth and the device comprises a pair of arms. In use the combination of at least one arm with a heating region and a cooling region reduces heat damage to hair being styled, sealing in moisture, such that the styled hair is kept straighter and shinier for longer than with conventional hair straightening irons.

Page 1 Hair Straightening Iron.
This invention relates to a hair straightening iron When using hair straightening irons, the hair that has been straightened remains very hot once the irons have pasted over it. This causes the hair to lose moisture, become frizzy and in some cases it can cause hair breakage and damage to the hair shaft To overcome this problem this invention proposes a thermo-electric ceramic cooling strip within the plates of the straightening iron (Fig 1). There would also be a heat-proof membrane separating the hot and cold ceramic plates to prevent unwanted heat transfer and a heat-sync panel within the arm of the straighteners (Fig 2).
The sides and surfaces of the arms of the straightner have vents (Fig 3) and (Fig 4).
As the hair straightening iron is passed over the hair (Fig 5) the hair is first straightened by the heat, then instantly cooled by the thermo-electric strip which dramatically reduces heat damage to the hair and seals in moisture this will keep the hair straighter and shinier for longer.
Preferably, the hair straightening iron will have a thermo electric cooling strips integrated with in both ceramic plates.
Preferably, the hair straightening iron with cooling strip will incorporate a fan to assist in the cooling within the straightening iron.
Preferably, the hair straightening iron with cooling strip will have a heat sync located with in the arms of the straighteners.
Preferably, the hair straightening iron with cooling strips ceramics plates will be smooth.
