Abstract

A platform 1 for the safe loading and unloading of an elevated load comprises an elevated walkway 2 having at least one access point 4. The platform also comprises a loading side 9 which can be positioned adjacent the elevated load. A raised platform 5 is positioned on, and movable along, the elevated walkway 2. Guard means 7, 11 is fitted to the platform and includes height adjustable guard sections 11 along the loading side of the elevated walkway 2. The platform 1 is suitable for use on any surface and in any conditions and is particularly useful to gain access to an upper portion of an elevated load, such as those associated with lorry trailer beds. The present invention also provides a modular system (30, Fig 3) for the safe loading and unloading of an elevated load.
