Abstract

A vehicle fuel theft alarm directly detects loss of fuel from a tank using an existing fuel sender. The alarm may be armed automatically when the vehicle ignition is turned off and a preset time has been allowed for the fuel in the tank to settle. The alarm is triggered when a sudden level drop is detected, for example when fuel is being stolen. Consumption by a night heater and engine heater may be allowed for without the alarm triggering. The alarm may trigger an audible or visible warning, and a GSM unit may also be activated.

Description

FUEL TANK ALARM SYSTEM
FUEL TANK ALARM OPERATION
1 The alarm will automatically arm itself when the vehicle engine is turned off after a set time to allow for fuel settlement.
2 The alarm has a auto learn provision for the change in fuel levels and different vehicle applications within the preconfigured zone.
3. Now that the alarm is armed it will monitor the fuel level taken into consideration the use of fuel from other consumers ie night heaters and engine heaters shown in the graph above.
4. When the alarm is activated by a sudden drop of fuel level it will trigger the data and alarm ECU. This will activate the light and sound warning and also the GSM unit which is optional to this system.
5. The advantages of this type of alarm system is that when activated it has a self learning device and totally isolates the vehicle electronics from the alarm system thus allowing only the tank sender to be used.
