Abstract

A convertible garment which can be used alternatively as a cape, as a blanket or as a sleeping bag. The garment 1 includes sleeves 6 and has a permanently attached foot pocket 8, which can be converted into a seating pillow. The foot pocket can be attached at the waist using the belt 9, which is attached to the upper edge of the foot pocket 8. The garment 1 can be converted into a cape quickly by tying the belt 9 around the waist, which then enables the user to walk around. The foot pocket 8 also serves as storage for the cover 1 when not in use.

Description

Patent application
[Description of invention:]
Blanket or cape style cover made from textile or synthetics for people
[Description]
The invention regards a blanket or cape style cover made from textile or synthetics for people with sleeve entrances. It has a pocket for the feet which is permanently connected to the cover and which can also become a seating pillow with one easy movement. Furthermore the foot pocket acts also as storage for the cover when it is not used.
[State of the art] Known are warming blankets with sleeves. This kind of warming blanket allows the user to be covered and use the hands at the same time. However it doesn't offer adequate protection against cold in the foot and head area. Furthermore, this kind of warming blanket offers insufficient possibility to move around, because it can't be fixed to the body properly and therefore slides away from the body and touches the floor.
Patent US 20020129445 Al is a pillow blanket with sleeves consisting of a rectangu-lar cover for covering the human body, which has in the middle of the bottom end of the cover a connected foot pocket. The foot pocket also acts as storage of the cover when it is not being used.
Although this cover has sleeves, it is only meant as a warming blanket. It is not made for being used as a cape as well, because it does not provide the necessary freedom for the legs.
Patent US 5 815 833 A describes a product which can be transformed from a jacket into a sleeping bag which can be stored in a bag. The disadvantage of this invention is, that the leg pocket to turn it into a sleeping bag and the sleeves to turn it into a jacket are detachable from the product. A storage pocket is accessorily connected to the leg pocket, so that this product is cumbersome to transform.
[Purpose of invention] The purpose of the invention is to propose a blanket or cape style cover made from textile or synthetics for people with sleeve entrances, which guarantees the compre- hensive insulating of the user's body including the head and foot area as well as of-fering the user the possibility to freely move around, without the cover sliding down or touching the floor. Furthermore, the user shall be enabled to use the foot pocket as a foot pocket or as a seating pillow when sitting. Finally the cover shall be stored space savingly in the foot pocket when it's not being used.
This purpose is solved with the patent claim 1. Advantageous design is subject to the sub claims.
The purpose of invention is solved by the cover made of fabric or synthetics, which is mentioned at the beginning, with sleeve entrances for the arms at the shoulder area, wherein a foot pocket is located in the middle of the foot area which can, if required be fixed in the height of the user's bottom via a belt which is attached to the top end of the foot pocket. At this juncture, the seating pillow can be guided and fixed to the user either inside or outside the cover at the height of his bottom. In the latter case the fabric of the cover offers an additional padding of the seating pillow.
When the foot pocket is fixed in this way, the user can either use it as a seating pillow or walk around without the cover touching the floor.
The belt can be either tied loosely or closed stagelessly via a clasp.
To offer a protection against the cold in the head area, a hood is proposed which is connected to the upper end of the cover.
The advantageous design of the invention is explained by the means of drawings.
The following shows: Fig. I the spread out cover seen from the front Fig. 2 the worn cover seen from the front and side Fig. 3 the cover used as a sleeping bag Fig. 4 the cover in seating position seen from the side Fig. 5 the cover with the foot pocket fastened in various ways as a seating pillow Fig. 6 the cover seen from the side in seating position with use of the foot pocket as a seating pillow fastened with the belt Fig. 7 the cover stored in the foot pocket The beginning refers to Fig. 1: With reference numeral 1 the whole cover is labelled, which can be made for example from fleece fabric. The whole cover 1 is nearly rec-tangular when spread out with one middle part 2 and two side parts 3.
In the upper area of the cover I where the side parts 3 are connected to the middle part 2 are two sleeve entrances 5 located with attached sleeves 6. In the middle of the upper edge of the cover I the hood 7 is attached. At the bottom edge of the cover 1 a foot pocket 8 is located. On both sides of the upper edge of the foot pocket 8 two of the belt ends 10 are attached.
In the upper area of the front of the foot pocket 8 is closing element 12, which can be buttons, zipper or Velcro. This closing element 12 has two functions: On the one hand a user 4 who is wearing the cover 1, can connect the closing ele-ments 12 with the corresponding closing elements 11 at the lower edge of the side parts 3. This enables user 4 to sleep in the cover I without the cover opening itself in the lower area and therefore insulating user 4 against the cold.
On the other hand the closing element 12 can be used to close the pocket 8 for stor-ing the cover 1.
Fig. 2 shows cover I from the front and side when it is worn covering the whole body of user 4, with the feet of user 4 in the foot pocket 8. The middle part 2 covers the user's 4 back and the two front parts 3 are closed like a coat at the front. The arms are inserted through the sleeve entrances 5 into the sleeves 6.
The closing elements 11 and 12 in the lower area and the closing elements 13 and 14 in the upper area are closed.
In Fig. 3 the cover I is used as a sleeping bag. Because of the sleeves it is possible to move the arms freely and they are not stuck inside as they are in conventional sleeping bags. In Fig. 3a the arms of user 4 are folded under his head and in Fig. 3b the arms in the sleeves are lying against the body.
The use of cover I in a seated position is shown in Fig. 4. The foot pocket 8 is used here to cover the feet.
Fig. 5 shows the different ways in which user 4 can tie the foot pocket 8 via the free ends of the belt 9 at the height of his bottom. Using this method, the whole cover I is gathered at the waist and a fashionable piece of clothing with leg freedom is created.
Fig. 5a shows that the belt 9 with its ends 10 which are attached at the upper edge of the foot pocket 8, can pass either in front (left drawing) or behind (right drawing) the side parts 3 of cover 1. Either the side parts 3 are not involved (Fig. 5b) or the whole cover I is closed like a coat via the belt 9 around the waist (Fig. 5c).
Fig. Sd shows the worn cover 1 as in Fig. Sc with tied up foot pocket 8 from the back.
Visible are here the belt ends 10, which are attached to the foot pocket 8 and which keep the foot pocket 8 with the closed belt 9 at the height of the user's bottom.
By the use of additional loops 16 at the bottom edge in the middle of the side parts 3 of the cover 1, the cover I can be made smaller and fixed higher on the body, as the belt 9 is inserted additionally through these loops 16.
In Fig. 6 the cover I is used in a seated position, where the foot pocket 8 is used as a seating pillow which is fixed by the belt 9.
Finally Fig. 7 shows the cover I stored in the foot pocket 8. The pocket is closed via the closing element 12 and the belt 9 is used as the carrying strap for the pocket 8.
