Abstract

A tile trim corner cover 6 comprising two or three legs that extend roughly perpendicular to each other to cover the edge trims. The cover is preferably made out of a plastic called acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and may be secured to the tile edge trim by adhesive and thus there are no moving, push fit, press on or clip on parts. The trim cover legs may be cut to the required size and the cover is designed to cover a mitred corner. The inner side of the tile cover is exactly the same curvature as the outer side of the the trim and the inner curvature and thickness is the same throughout.

Description

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to improvements in the tiling industry. This invention is particularly for the use where tiles meet at a corner and a tile edge trim is required, whether it is one or two edge trims and a corner is created.
At the present were the edge trims meet they have to be cut to precise length and then pushed together which can cause a sharp point, with the remaining gap being filled with adhesive.
This invention overcomes all the above problems, with no precise cutting, no sharp edges or adhesive showing. The tile trims are cut square just short of the corner, then the tile trim corner cover fits over the ends of the tile trim. This giving a neater, more rounded, safer, tidier and much cleaner tiled corner.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
The present invention provides a solid corner suitable for the use when tiling corners with tile edge trims. This invention is a perfectly shaped corner whose purpose is to conceal the prior form of tile edge corner e.g. tile adhesive or sharp edges. The prior recourse of creating or sealing a tile trim corner will be eliminated in favour of a more effected yet more easily installed tiled corner.
With the tile trim now being cut shorter the open corner that has been created, normally of a right angle or triangular shape. Then the tile trim corner cover is placed over this corner to conceal it.
With the inner side of the tile trim corner cover being thin throughout and the exact shape of the outer side of the tile edge trim its will fit over the top of the tile edge trim perfectly. With the tile trim corner cover being of the same shape as the corner opening but being slightly larger in size, it allows for an appreciable overlap. The tile trim corner cover will be of one piece of moulded plastic with the legs being of the same length whether it be the two or three legged option. With the tile trim corner cover being glued to the tile edge trims it gives a much stronger corner.
In another embodiment the tile trim corner cover can also be made not just at right angles but of any angle to suit the corner that needs to be created. With the looks being the exact same as the right angled versions.
ADVANTAGES
One of the advantages of the tile trim corner cover is the simplicity of its use. No matter how good the mitre is where the tile trims meet there will always be a slight gap, a sharp point or tile adhesive that will discolour in time.
There is no need for mitring tricky corners either using two tile edge trims or three, and only straight cuts required. The tile trim corner cover is aimed not just at the professional but also at the D.l.Y. person where there is no precise cutting required. With no mitring or experience time and costs are saved which is valuable to all concerned. Once the tile trim corner cover is fitted it gives a much cleaner and stronger corner.
INTRODUCTION TO DRAWINGS
A better understanding of the invention will be shown in the following drawings of which:-Fig 1 Shows a single right handed three legged tile trim corner cover from the front with the three legs being the same length, the angles the same and the ends being the same curvature.
Fig 2 Shows a single left handed three legged tile trim corner cover from the front with the three legs being the same length, the angles the same and the ends being the same curvature.
Fig 3 Shows a corner where three tile edge trims are used at the edge of a tiled area. The top two tile edge trims are mitred with the third pushed up to the bottom of the other two, and the dark adhesive filling the gap.
Fig4 Shows the three tile edge trims on the tiled edges of which have been cut short of the corner, with no precision cutting and a gap has now been created.
Fig 5 Shows the three tile edge trims and the thin tile trim corner cover in place, overlapping the ends of all three tile trims with no cut ends or adhesive showing, creating a stronger corner.
Fig 6 Showing a single two legged version of the tile trim corner cover with the legs being the same length and the ends the same curvature.
Fig 7 Showing only two tile edge trims mitred at the corner with the dark adhesive filling the gap.
Fig 8 Shows the two tile edge trims cut short at the corner with no precision cutting.
Fig 9 Shows the two tile edge trims and the thin tile trim corner cover in place, slightly overlapping each ends of both edge trims, which creates a stronger corner with no cut edges or adhesive showing.
Fig 10 Shows the two legged version of the tile trim corner cover as a view from both sides.
Fig 11 Shows the three legged version of the tile trim corner cover as a view from both sides.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a tile trim corner cover 1 and 5 to use in conjunction with tile edge trim 2 and 6.
The tile trim corner cover 1 and 5 relates to a corner where two or more tile edge trims meet on a tiled wall 9 and need to be joined at the corner in some way.
The tile trim corner cover 1 and 5 is a perfectly moulded corner made out of a plastic called Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (A.B.S.) as not all plastics are suitable for adhesion.
With using A.B.S with its hardness this also means that it is strong but not brittle, light in weight and pliable. It also has a high quality gloss finish that is not subject to discolour with cleaning products.
The invention as in Fig 1, 2 and 6 show a three legged and two legged tile trim corner cover 1 and 5 with every internal corner at 90%, with it also possible to be made at any angle to suit. The drawings also show that the outer ends are not of a true curve with them straightening off at one corner, as also in Fig 1, 2 and 6. This is to accommodate the outer curvature of the tile edge trim 2 and 6.
With the tile trim corner cover 1 and 5 internal size being the same size as the outer of the tile edge trim 2 and 6 and can also be made in different widths to suit different tile edge trims 2 and 6, this is to ensure that when placed over the top of the tile edge trim 2 and 6 it is a perfect fit. Covering up the tile adhesive 3 and 7 or if the tile edge trims 2 and 6 are cut short to create a gap 4 and 8. It is also thin enough as not to lose its strength and to have as little up stand as possible between the tile edge trim 2 and 6, and the tile edge trim corner cover 1 and 5.
The legs of the tile trim corner cover 1 and 5 are all of the same length but suitable to allow for adhesion to the tile edge trim 2. With it being a mould the corners where the two or three legs meet will be a smooth round finish with no sharp edges.
On the three legged version as in Fig 1 and 2 the vertical leg is slightly off centre to accommodate the tile edge trim 2 and 6 this making a right Fig 1 and a left Fig 2 handed tile trim corner cover 1 and 5.
With the tile edge trim corner cover 1 and 5 having both a smooth surface internally and externally it doesn't have any moving, push fit, press on or clip in parts this giving the simplicity of its use.
