Abstract

A storage device for tools, lock and ancillary cycling equipment may fit within the frame on a bicycle and have a separate detachable/removable storage compartment within that can be used for valuables that locks in place via a locking mechanism but is securely attached to the bicycle. The separate compartment is suitable for keys, loose change, phone and any other small objects/valuables. The device may be fitted to either; the cross member (top tube)/seat post/ under the seat either vertically down to the crank union (bottom bracket) within the frame or along the top tube or along the down tube from the bottom bracket. The storage device gives freedom from bulky pockets and other protrusions whilst on the bicycle which would allow you to carry all items necessary items to mend/repair/secure your bicycle in one detachable secure unit. Approximate dimensions of the device may be: 250mm x 100mm x 50mm (10" x 4" x 2") for the storage device. The device would fit most junior and adult bikes excepting BMX and those with rear suspension. The design may be used on 'Town bikes' and some 'Ladies shopping' bikes along with the standard 'Diamond' frames on 'Racer' and 'Mountain' bikes.

Cycle Storage Device A storage device for tools, lock and ancillary cycling equipment that that fits within the frame on a bicycle that has a separate detachable/removable storage compartment within that can be used for valuables that locks in place via a locking mechanism but is securely attached to the bicycle.
The separate compartment is suitable for keys, loose change, phone and any other small objects/valuables
Background.
The essence of the idea arose when I bought a D' lock for security but was unable to affix it to my bike due to the frame tubing dimensions being larger than the potential fitment.
I then looked at what else I would reasonably wish to cariy and at the options availabid for storage.
I found plenty of options for soft' luggage but none that could offer a secure and lockable unit.
I then set about through trial and error and arrived at utilising the space within the diamond of the frame as an ideal place to locate my product. It has benefits in so much that it keeps the weight in a central position, is lockable, removable and secure along with offering an amount of waterproofing for its contents.
I then looked at what the individual canes around on their body whilst cycling, keys, wallet, cell phones and loose change and thought about where these objects could be placed.
I decided that by devising split storage within the device you could on one side of the device have a detachable pouch could be devised to incorporate safe storage but remain detachable/removable to be carried on your person if desired whilst the rest of the device is secure on the bike. e'AiM

Claims (5)

1. A storage device for tools, lock and ancillary cycling equipment and personal effects that can be affixed to a bicycle but that remains secure and only accessible to the key holder.
2.A storage device according to claim 1 for tools, lock and ancillazy cycling equipment that that fits within the frame on a bicycle that has a separate detacbablelremOvable storage compartment (see 3 below) that locks in place via a strap arrangement around the tubular frame of the bike.
3.A storage device according to claim 1 that has a separate removable compartment that is suitable for keys, loose change, phone and any other small objects/valuables.
4. A storage device according to claim I that is removable from the machine in its entirety if so desired by the key holder for example to effect transportation or servicing of the machine.
5. A storage device according to claim 1 that is of a hard luggage' style (moulded plastic/polypropylene) as opposed to soft luggage' (cloth/material) that can be more easily damaged due to its material content.
