Abstract

A multifunctional pen includes a water reservoir 1, which is closed with a stopper 6, removable to allow the reservoir to be refilled. The water reservoir contains a round ball structure 2 in its lowest part. The ball structure is embedded in sockets 8 & 10 within the inner and outer walls respectively of the pen's casing. The ball can freely rotate in these sockets to allow water to be dispensed. The ink refill tube 4, occupies the inner recess 9, of the pen's casing. When the ball is rolled with a finger it wets that finger which wet finger can then be used to turn the pages of a book.

Description

MULTIFUNCTIONAL PEN
This invention relates to a multifunctional pen with a water generating device and a water reservoir. We all from time to time have to turn pages of books or count some paper made material including money, and because these materials are often stuck together, we find ourselves wetting our fmgers with the saliva from our mouth. This makes turning the pages easy. However, it is also very unhygienic as we inadvertently transfer dirt from the paper to our mouth, risking contracting diseases.
To prevent this from happening, the present invention proposes a dual function writing pen, which has a water reservoir within the upper part of its casing as well as a ball structure embedded in a socket in the casing wall. This ball structure which can be rolled in any direction along its axis would be in contact with the water in the reservoir and when rolled with the fmger, wets that finger with water.
The wet finger can then be used to turn the pages of the book. The ball structure when not rolled, also serves the function of closing up the socket in the walls of the casing thereby preventing water from leaking when not needed. The ball structure can be made of any material and should preferably be in the lowest part of the water reservoir, that is, the end closest to the writing tip of the pen. This is to ensure that the water generating unit can continue to be effective even when the reservoir is running out of water.
The obvious utility of having such a dual function pen is that it obviates the need to have a separate device that generates water that could be used to wet the fmger.
When we are reading books and need to flip through the pages, we are usually holding a pen in our hand. By incorporating the water generating device in the writing pen, we avoid the need to hold another device in our hand in addition to our writing pen. This present device is so thoughtfully configured that it enables a seamless and swift movement of the finger across the ball structure and then this finger can be used to wet the other finger needed to turn the pages.
The invention will now be described solely by way of an example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 -Shows a longitudinal section of the multifunctional pen, with details of the essential features and with the removable stopper in place.
Figure 2 -A cross-section of the multifunctional pen at the level of the ball structure which also projects into the lower portion of the water reservoir and sits snugly in the socket within the walls of the pens casing.
Figure 3 -Shows another longitudinal section of the pen, but with the removable stopper removed to allow for refilling with water.
In Figure 1, a multifunctional pen in longitudinal section. The outer wall of the casing 3, could be made of plastic, rubber or a metallic materiaJ.
On one side of the outer wall 3, and in a socket 10, in its central portion which is continuous with a corresponding socket 8, in the inner wall 7, is a solid or hollow ball structure 2, which can be rolled about its axis with the finger. It is strategically placed with its inner part in the water reservoir 1, and in contact with the water in the reservoir. The outer part of the ball structure 2, projects outside the outer wall of the casing 3. The socket in the walls of the casing hug the ball snugly thereby preventing it from dislocation, but still allowing it enough freedom to be rolled along its axis.
The Ink refill tube 4, is also shown in the inner recess 9, formed by the inner wall of the casing 7. This inner recess 9, is closed off at its upper end, but open at its lower end, to allow for the insertion of the ink tube.
The writing tip 5, of the ink refill tube 4, projects outside to allow contact with the paper when writing.
The water reservoir 1, occupies the upper part of the space between the outer arid inner walls of the casing. It is closed off from the lower part of this casing as shown in Figure 1. The other end of the water reservoir 1, is closed with a removable stopper 6, which can be made of rubber or any other durable and non corrosive material.
Figure 2 shows a cross section of the multifunctional pen at the level of the ball structure 2. It shows the ball structure 2, as a solid round structure which is positioned in the socket in the walls of the pens casing.
It also shows the ball structure 2, in contact with the water in the water reservoir 1.
Figure 3, is another longitudinal section of the multifunctional pen, but, with the removable stopper 6, removed to allow for water to be put in the water reservoir 1.
