Abstract

A prefabricated scaffold frame comprising t-section supporting member specially adapted to locate scaffolding planks in a level, end-to end arrangement. Scaffold planks are placed upon the flanges of the T-section, reducing the trip hazard to an operative walking on the boards that is associated with prior art arrangements which feature overlapping planks.

Description

Description
Prefabricated T' Frame 1. Please view Fig 1 A & 1 B which shows a scaffold frame design in section.
This frame can be fabricated in different sizes.
2. Please view Figs 2A, 2B & 2C which shows the section of the cross bar. This shows a T-section, or double angle section, which supports the scaffold planks. This type of steel is used because of its strength and also it allows the planks to be placed in such a manner that it will not allow a tripping hazard to occur.
3. Please view Figs 3 & 4 which shows an existing typical scaffold frame that is currently used in many countries of the world. You will notice that the top horizontal member is round. The difference between the designs is shown in Figs 5A & 5B. In Fig 5A the existing design is shown. When planks are placed on the frames, to act as a platform, the planks must overlap. This leaves a tripping hazard and a definite violation against building codes. In Fig 5B the new design shows that the double angle horizontal member, the planks butt end to end leaving no trip hazard.
4. The top horizontal member is the only difference between what systems already exist and the new design. For this reason, it is believed that this new product may be patented.
5. The frame is designed to allow at least the minimum head height and a shoulder width distances required by European standards.
6. All components within this design are to comply with European standards.
7. Each frame can be built vertically by a sleeve and insert system which allows lateral stability while building such a structure. See Fig 6.
8. Separate attachments can be used, such as toe-boards, handrails, scaffold jacks, netting, plastic, pipes and clamps.

Claims (3)

  1. CLAIMS1. Pre-fabricated scaffold frame with non trip hazard t-section incorporated comprising, of an inverted t-section top horizontal member which allows planks to rest on the flanges. All other pre-fabricated systems incorporate a round hollow tube as the top horizontal member.
  2. 2. Pre-fabricated scaffold frame as in claim I, which is braced to another frame, both laterally and horizontally by the use of diagonal bracing.
  3. 3. Pre-fabricated scaffold frame as in claim 2, which may be built vertically on top of another frame by use of internal socket connectors.
