Abstract
246,237. Matthews, W. C. Nov. 3, 1924. Coating-appliances, hand.-Wax is applied to leather, to cotton or canvas belting or other material by a portable hand-operated device, the wax being heated in or on the device and simultaneously applied to the material. The device may consist of a perforated roller, Fig. 1, to which the wax is supplied through a flexible tube 4 and hollow handle 3 and bow 2 with control valve 5. An electric heater 6 is provided. A modified form of roller has a handle at one end through which the wax is supplied and the electric connections enter. A heated roller 14, Fig. 3, to which wax is supplied through a tube and nozzles 16 may be combined with a second heated roller 13 and a cooling roller 15. Sticks of wax carried by the handle may be melted at the lower end by contact with a heated roller 14. A device shown in Fig. 5 comprises fine tubes 24 connected to a hollow back 23 to which wax is supplied through a tube 21 fitted with a heating wire 22. The back 23 may be heated. A container 25, Fig. 6 has a gauze outlet face 26 and heating means 27. Fig. 7 shows another brush-like device with plates 29 between which the wax passes from a heated container 30 supplied by a pipe 31 under control of a valve 32. Specifications 5164/02, 4049/09, and 14867/10 are referred to.
