Abstract

A device in the form of a tube 1 that is located on the inside wall of a bin 10 so that it extends from the top to the bottom of the bin, the tube allows air from outside the bin to enter thereby preventing a vacuum from forming when a bin bag 8 is removed from the bin. The tube is held in place by brackets 3 that are attached to the inside wall of the bin by self adhesive pad 4. Alternatively the tube may be incorporated into the bin during manufacture. The tube may have an angled cut 5 at the base of the tube preventing the rubbish bag from impeding the flow of air into the bin. The top of the tube may have a moulded unit 6 that can hold a scented anti-bacterial pad 7. The tube may be telescopic to allow the device to fit waste bins of different heights.

Description

Bm anti vacuum This invention relates to a device for preventing a vacuum when withdrawing a full bag from a waste bin.
When a waste bin containing a bin liner has been filled, difficulty is experienced in withdrawing the full bag due to a vacuum being formed beneath the bag in the process of it being filled. This vacuum sometimes results in the bag tearing and the contents spilling out.
To overcome this problem, this invention proposes a telescopic tube which will attach to the inside of domestic bins of any shape and size, old or new and introduce air to the bottom of the bin underneath the full liner while the liner is being withdrawn.
Preferably, with the addition of a scented, anti bacterial pad in a purpose made injection moulded unit slotted into the top of this tube, the bin is also deodorised and disinfected at the same time as air is drawn in.
The invention will now be described with the aid of the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows the device with a tube I being slotted over a tube of a slightly smaller diameter 2. Tube 1 has two brackets attached 3, which have a double sided self adhesive pad 4 fixed to each one to facilitate the attachment of the device to the inside of the waste bin. (figure 2 10) the bottom of tube 2 has a cut made at 45 degrees 5 to prevent the bottom of the tube being blocked by the bag, or sitting on the base of the bin. In the top of tube I is an injection moulded unit 6, which can hold a porous, scented, anti bacterial pad 7.
Figure 2 shows items I to 5 attached to the inside of the bin 10 while the full bag 8 is being withdrawn upwards 9 and when doing so is pulling air 11, through the scented, anti bacterial filter 7, and the tubes 1 and 2 to the space underneath the bag allowing the liner to be withdrawn easily.
