Abstract

A device for collecting the debris or dust created while drilling a hole in a wall comprises a plastic bag with means to detachably adhere the bag to the wall. Preferably the attachment means is low adhesive tape 1 that runs along top of the bag opposing one of the vertical seams 2 of the bag, when the bag is attached to the wall the configuration of the bag allows the bag to hold itself open. The bag is preferably made of thin plastic to allow the bag to hug the contours of heavily embossed wallpapers. Once the bag has been used, the bag is removed from the wall, the top of the bag is folded over and the tape 1 that secures the bag to the wall is used to seal the bag thereby preventing dust/debris 3 from spilling from the bag. The bag may then be folded over again and secured in the folded position by adhesive tape (3, fig 3) positioned on the front of the bag. The bags may be joined together to form a roll.

Description

TITLE: DISPOSABLE PLASTIC DUST COLLECTION BAGS
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A DISPOSABLE SELF ADHESIVE
BAG WHICH STICKS TO THE WALL AND CATCHES DUST AND
SPOIL; WHICH OCCURS WHEN YOU DRILL A HOLE IN BRICK,
BACK GROUND
WHEN YOU DRILL A HOLE iN A WALL TO HANG A PICTURE OR FIX A SHELF UP, DUST AND SPOIL IS CREATED FROM DRILLING THE HOLE. MOST PEOPLES ANSWER IS TO PUT A DUST SHEET DOWN, THIS IS FINE TO STOP DUST GOING ONTO THE CARPET. BUT BY THE TIME THE DUST REACHES THE
FLOOR MOST OF THE MESS HAS ALREADY BEEN CREATED
WITH DUST FALLiNG DOWN THE WALL STAiNING THE WALL
PAPER OR PLASTER BEFORE SEULING ON TOP OF THE
SKIRTiNG BOARD. SO WHY NOT SIMPLE CATCH IT AS IT LEAVES THE HOLE.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
MY INVENTION IS VERY SiMPLE, DISPOSABLE LIGHT WEIGHT
PLASTIC BAGS OF VARYING SIZES DEPENDING ON THE TYPE
OF JOB. THEY HAVE A LOW TACK AD}IESWE TAPE WHICH RUNS ALONG THE TOP OF ONE SIDE OF THE BAG, THIS STICKS THE BAG TO THE.WALL BELOW THE HOLE TO BE DRILLED.
THEY MUST BE MANUFACTURED OF THIN PLASTIC TO ALLOW
THEM TO HUG THE CONTOURS OF CERTAIN HEAVILY
EMBOSSED WALLPAPERS. THIS IS TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO GAPS FOR DUST TO SLIP THROUGH. ALSO THE TAPE
HOLDING THE BAG TO THE WALL MUST BE OF A LOW TACK
TYPE JUST STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD TIlE DUST FILLED BAG
TO THE WALL BUT LOW ENOUGH NOT TO RIP THE SURFACE
OF THE WALL PAPER WHILE BEING REMOVED. I. I.

ADVANTAGES
IN MY LINE OF WORK I DRILL MANY HOLES INSIDE PEOPLES
HOUSES, DURING MY WORKING DAY. THE PROBLEM OF DUST STAINING WALLPAPER OR PLASTER AS IT FALLS; THEN
SETTLING ON TOP OF THE SKIRTING BOARD OR CARPET IS
MESSY, AND A REAL NIGHTMARE. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF WAYS AROUND THIS. ONE: HOLD A DUSTPAN UNDER THE HOLE AS YOU DRILL. TWO: USE A VACUUM CLEANER WITH A
HOSE AND NOZZLE TO SUCK THE DUST FROM UNDER HOLE
AS YOU DRILL IT. BOTH METHODS ARE CUMBERSOME AND MESSY, BUT MOST OF ALL REQUIRE TWO PEOPLE. ONE TO DRILL, THE OTHER TO HOLD THE PAN OR VACUUM CLEANER.
WHAT A PALAVER! WITH MY INVEN11ON SIMPLY PULL ONE OF THE DISPOSABLE BAGS FROM THE ROLL (SIMILAR TO THE WAY SANDWICH BAGS ARE PULLED.) PULL THE PROTECTWE COVER FROM THE TAPE,. STICK TO THE WALL AND DRILL.
WHEN FINISHED SIMPLY PULL THE TAPE FROM THE WALL, FOLD UP, AND SEAL. THE BAG SEALS USING THE TAPE EDGE YOU STUCK IT TO THE WALL WITH, TO STOP DUST SPILLING OUT. THEN SIMPLY THROW AWAY.
