Scavengers' carts; doors, cart. - Scavengers' carts and vehicles adapted for the transport of powdered or granulated materials such as wheat, cereals, &c. of the kind provided with a hatch or hooded or cowled aperture to the top edge of which a gravity-swung normally-closed flap is hinged, the bin or other receptacle being pivotally attached to the vehicle adjacent said hatch so as to be swung over to be tipped into the latter for discharge, are provided with a. rigid hatch 3 having a roof bulged outwardly and with a hinged closure flap 4 which is also curved to tilt inside the hatch and fit exactly into the shape of the roof. A tip box comprising a bottom 12 and sides 12<1> is hinged at 13 and is adapted to house a dust-bin 16 provided with a rim adapted to engage in slides 15 on the tip-box bottom 12. To empty the dust-bin into the cart, the tip-box is elevated causing the dust-bin to open the flap 4 of the hood 3 and to discharge its contents into the cart as shown in Fig. 3. The dust-bin 16 is provided with three handles 18, one as shown and two similar handles at opposite sides. A rear door 6 for the cart is provided adapted to slide in guides and to have an aperture 9 through which a rake 10, Fig. 3, may be introduced to even the load 11 in the cart. The dust-bin may be held in the tip-box by springs. In vehicles for the transport of powdered or granulated materials the dust-bin is omitted and the tip box is open at the top only and is adapted to contact with the flap 4 of the hood 3.
