Description
MANUAL CALL POINT
The present invention is related to a manual call point, and particularly to an alarm that is capable of warning via a non-electronic warning signal when an electronic light-emitting source thereof is out of order and thus unable to display warning signals.
With the highly advanced civilization of human being, there are many potential dangerous factors in the buildings where we live. When a man-made or natural calamity (such as a fire, earthquake or etc.) happens, since the modern buildings are built so high and their constructions are closed, it is difficult to flee such a high and closed building, which may result in the lost of people's life and properties.
In order to overcome the above problem and protect people's life and properties, in addition to precautionary means in ordinary times, the most important thing in protecting the calamity is to alert people immediately upon the occurrence of the calamity. Therefore, a manual call point is developed.
In Europe, a manual call point, usually referred to as an MCP within the fire protection industry, and is used to allow building occupants to signal that a fire or other emergency exists within the building. They are usually connected to a central fire alarm panel which is in turn connected to an alarm system in the building, and often to a local fire brigade dispatcher as well.
When the calamity happens, one can activate the manual call point to generate a ring of warning bells or warning signals, thereby alerting all the people in this building for the calamity to adopt emergent measures immediately.
A common manual call point is provided with an electronic light-emitting source (such as a LED lamp). After being activated, the electronic light-emitting source will emit light to transmit a visual warning signal to alert people. However, in addition to the electronic light-emitting source, it is desired that the manual call point has an effect of displaying a non-electronic signal, thereby avoiding the problem of failing to transmit signals correctly if the electronic light-emitting source is out of order.
The conventional manual call point is provided with an operating panel and a display element. The display element alerts people for some emergent conditions via an eye-catching colored sign. When a calamity happens, one can press the operating panel to show up the display element. At the same time, the operating panel will press a switch within the manual call point to activate the manual call point. However, the conventional operating panel cannot press the switch securely, so that the signals cannot be transmitted steadily. If the signals break off while the calamity has not been removed, the warning bell will be stopped accordingly, so that people may make an erroneous judgment.
The object of the present invention is to provide a manual call point to avoid or alleviate one of the above problems. In one embodiment, a switch can be activated securely so as to avoid the signals from breaking off. More preferably, the present invention has an effect of displaying non-electronic signals The invention is defined in the independent claim.
Further preferred features are defined in the dependent claims.
In one embodiment, the present invention provides a manual call point including: a housing having an accommodating space and a cover, the cover being provided with a display opening and an insertion hole, the display opening being opened to an end surface of the cover, the housing being provided therein with an operating panel and a switch, the operating panel covering the display opening; a display element provided in the housing near the periphery of the display opening, the display element having a shining portion, a stopping portion and a pressing portion, the shining portion abutting against one end of the operating panel; and an elastic element provided in the housing and connected to the display element. Via the above arrangement, after the operating panel is pressed, the shining portion of the display element can protrude to be exposed to the display opening through the force applied by the elastic element.
Further, the stopping portion is stopped at the periphery of the display opening, while the pressing portion of the display element presses the switch, thereby activating the manual call point to generate an alert.
The embodiment has advantageous effects as follows. With the pressing portion of the display element pressing the switch, the switch can be activated more securely to generate a steady electrical connection. As a result, it is able to transmit a warning signal continuously also transmit it to a fire-fighting switchboard. Further, the effect of displaying a non-electronic warning signal can be achieved.
A preferred embodiment of the invention are described below by way of example only with reference to Figures 1 to 7 of the accompany drawings, wherein: Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view showing the manual call point of the present invention; Fig. 2 is a partially cross-sectional view showing the front of the manual call point of the present invention; Fig. 3 is a side cross-sectional view (I) showing the manual call point of the present invention; Fig. 4 is a schematic view showing the manual call point of the present invention being in an alert; Fig. 5 is a side cross-sectional view (II) showing the manual call point of the present invention; Fig. 6 is a schematic view showing the manual call point of the present invention with a reset key being inserted; and Fig. 7 is an assembled perspective view showing the manual call point of the present invention from a rear viewing angle.

The two buckling portions 113 are hooked members having a light elasticity. The two engaging troughs 114 are lormed by means of recessing the other edge of the base 11.
The cover 12 covers the base 11. The cover 12 has a display opening 121 and an insertion hole 122. The display opening 121 is formed in the cover 12 to penetrate the front and rear end surfaces of the cover 12. The insertion hole 122 is formed at the side of the cover 12 to communicate with the accommodating space 10. The cover 12 has a guiding path 123 and a guiding pillar 124. The guiding path 123 corresponds to the insertion hole 122 and is formed by means of extending from the periphery of the display opening 121 immediately. The guiding pillar 124 is provided near the distal end of the guiding path 123.
The circuit board 2 is provided on the bottom of the base 11. The circuit board 2 has a switch 21 and an electronic light-emitting source 22 for electrically connecting with the switch 21. The electronic light-emitting source 22 is a LED lamp that is exposed to the surface of the cover 12 (Fig.4) and can emit light to alarm people.
The operating panel 3 is provided in the accommodating space 10 and covers the display opening 121 of the cover 12 to press the upper end of the engaging body 111 of the base 11. Via the provision of the engaging body 111, the operating panel 3 can swing elastically in the housing I in a small range, so that a later-described shining portion 42 of the display element 4 can bound out to be exposed to the display opening 121.
The display element 4 is provided in the housing 1 near the underside of the periphery of the display opening 121. The display element 4 can be pivoted on the cover 12. The display element 4 has an arm 41, a visional alarm portion or a shining portion 42, a restraining portion or stopping portion 43, a pressing portion 44, a guiding trough 45, an abutting portion 46 and an elastic element 47.
One end of the arm 41 has a pivoting portion 411 that is pivoted to the cover 12 near the underside of the display opening 121. The shining portion 42 is a protruding plate that is formed at the upper edge of the other end of arm 41 and abuts against one end of the operating panel 3 (Figs. 2 and 3).
The stopping portion 43 is a pillar extending from a front end surface of the arm 41, which can stop at the lower edge of the periphery of the display opening 121 when the shining portion 42 protrudes to be exposed to the display opening 121.
The pressing portion 44 is formed on the rear surface of arm 41 (Fig. I and 3) to correspond to the switch 21, and can press on the switch 21 to activate the electronic light-emitting source 22 and other warning means (such as a warning bell) on the circuit board 2.
The guiding trough 45 is a curved trough that is formed on the other end of the arm 41. The guiding pillar 124 of the cover 12 is inserted in the guiding trough 45 and is provided with a screw, thereby forming a trajectory of the rotating and swinging action of the display element 4.
The abutting portion 46 and the stopping portion 43 are of a pillar similarly that can be used as a force-exerting point for a later-described elastic element 47.
The elastic element 47 is a torque spring that covers the pivoting portion 411 of the arm 41. One end of the elastic element 47 presses the abutting portion 46, and the other end of the elastic element 47 presses the cover 12, thereby generating an action force for returning the swinging of the display element 4.
The reset key 5 has an insertion portion or plate 51 and a drawing member or plate 52. The distal end of the insertion plate 5 1 is formed with a slope 511. The insertion plate 5 1 is formed with a stepped portion 512 in the longitudinal direction. The insertion hole 122 and the guiding path 123 are formed in such a manner that they correspond to the stepped portion 512. The insertion plate 51 of the reset key 5 is inserted in the insertion hole 122. The slope 511 of the insertion plate 51 extends into the distal end of the guiding path 123 to abut against the stopping portion 43 of the display element 4 and press down the display element 4. In this way, the shining portion 42 sinks into the cover 12 without being exposed to the display opening 121. The drawing plate 52 is of a plate-like structure that facilitates an operator to draw out the reset key 5.
The outer cover 6 covers on the cover 12 of the housing I pivotally, thereby avoiding any one from touching the manual call point erroneously in ordinary times.
The mounting base 7 can be provided on a wall surface of a building, so that it is convenient for any one to operate. The bottom of the mounting base 7 is provided with a penetrating hole 71 and a plurality of screw holes 74.
The penetrating hole 71 allows wires embedded in the wall surface to penetrate through to be electrically connected with an electronic assembly (Fig. 7) of the circuit board 2. The screw holes 74 allow the mounting base 7 to be screwed on the wall surface by screws. The mounting base 7 allows the base 11 to be mounted thereon. The mounting base 7 has two engaging portions 72 and two buckling holes 73. The buckling portions 113 of the base 11 are buckled to the buckling holes 73 elastically. The engaging portions 72 are engaged in the engaging troughs 114 of the base I I, thereby mounting the housing I on the mounting base 7.
On the drawing plate 52 of the reset key 5, protruding pillars 53 are formed to correspond to the two buckling holes 73. The protruding pillars 53 press the buckling portions 113 via the buckling holes 73, thereby ejecting the base 11 from the mounting base 7. In this way, it is convenient to connect the base 11 with the wires penetrating trough the penetrating hole 71 of the mounting base 7.
Please refer to Figs. 2 and 3. In ordinary times, the reset key 5 can be put alongside the housirrg 1. The shining portion 42 of the display element 4 abuts against one end of the operating panel 3 and sinks into the cover 12.
Please refer to Figs. 4 and 5. When an alert happens, one can lift up the outer cover 6 first. After pressing the operating panel 3, the acting force of the elastic element 47 causes the arm 41 of the display element 4 to swing, thereby ejecting the shining portion 42 to be exposed to the display opening 121. At the same time, the pressing portion 44 of the display element 4 presses the switch 21 to activate the electronic light-emitting source 22 and a warning bell. Further, a warning signal will be transmitted to a fire-fighting switchboard, thereby proceeding with an alarming operation.
Please refer to Fig. 6. When any one wants to remove the alert, the insertion plate 51 of the reset key 5 is inserted into the guiding path 123 via the insertion hole 122 of the housing 1. And, the slope 511 of the distal end of the insertion plate 51 abuts against the stopping portion 43 of the display element 4, so that the display element 4 returns to its original position and sinks into the cover 12 again. The operating panel 3 returns to its original position and abuts against the shining member 42. At the same time, one can draw out the reset key 5, so that it can be used in the next time. Via the above actions, the transmission of the warning signal is stopped securely, thereby removing the alert.
The present invention has advantageous effects as follows. With the pressing portion 44 of the display element 4 pressing the switch 21, the switch 21 can be pressed more securely to generate a firm electrical connection. As a result, it is possible to transmit warning signals continuously and also transmit it to a fire-fighting switchboard. Further, the effect of displaying non-electronic warning signals can be achieved.
While the invention has been described in terms of what is presently considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments, it is to be understood that the invention needs not be limited to the disclosed embodiment. On the contrary, it is intended to cover various modifications and similar arrangements included within the scope of the appended claims which are to be accorded with the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and similar structures. l0
