Abstract

A dispensing unit for shower gels and the like for use with showers comprise a container 1 connected to the shower's water supply pipe 5 prior to the shower head 6, the force of the shower's water supply sucks the shower gel from the dispensing unit and the shower gel and water mix. The container may have an air inlet 2 that allows air to enter the container upon the dispensing of the fluid there from, a clear window to allow the user to check the content level and an on and off switch 4 to control the release of the shower gel. The unit may be used to dispense alternative cleaning solutions for user's with skin conditions. Alternatively the unit is incorporated into a shower unit.

Description

SHOWER GEL UNIT
This invention is a means whereby shower gel is injected into the flow of water to the shower head, so the resultant flow is a mixture of the gel and water.
The use of shower gels or bars of soap applied manually can be a frustrating experience, like dropping the soap, trying to get the shower gel on awkward areas, like the back. For disabled or less mobile people this can not only be frustrating but almost impossible.
This unit also allows for other substances apart from shower gel to be used, a benefit for people with dry skin or excema, who have to use special soap free products.
The unit works by being connected to the waterfiow pipe by means of small gauge plastic tubing, the force of the hot water flowing through the pipe sucks the shower gel into the water pipe where it mixes with the hot water to form a foam which reaches all parts of the body.
The unit is a container which could be made of plastic, metal or incorporated into a manufactured shower unit. The shower unit 1, has a screw top with small apeture to let air replace gel as it goes down 2, a clear window to check full or empty 3, an on/off switch for stopping flow of gel for rinsing 4, a "T"junction where the smaller gauge unit connects to larger gauge pipe 5, a showerhead that flows foam when unit is switched on and clear water when off 6.
I originally developed the idea with hospitals and sports centres, where hygiene is essential, but the concept is now recommended for every shower unit worldwide.

Claims (5)

  1. Claims I) The shower unit is kept clean by the mixing of the shower gel and water within the shower hose reducing chances of germs breeding in the sprinkler head.
  2. 2) The system gets the body clean all over as the gel does not have to be physically applied which is of special benefit to disabled people.
  3. 3) The shower gel can be replaced by prescription washing agents used by people with skin conditions so they can shower as well as take bath which some find difficult at present.
  4. 4) This unit will be of particular benefit where communial showering takes place as it is more hygienic also a shower gel with a germ killing additive can be used.
  5. 5) This invention has the potential to be incorporated into the actual shower units as they are manufactured and potential sales are limited only by the amount of units sold each year.
