Abstract

A training leash for an animal such as a dog comprises a handle (A) incorporating a gas reservoir (B), a valve (D) controlled by a trigger (C) and a tube (E) running the length of the leash (F). The burst of air and the associated sound, escaping from the end of the tube, deters the animal from continuing the unwanted behaviour.

Description

/ 2453152 A Dog Training Lead Using Compressed Gas This invention relates to a dog lead which is intended to stop a dog from pulling when attached to the lead.
When a dog is on a conventional lead it may have a tendency to pull.
The dog often enjoys this resistance and can derive much satisfaction from constantly straining at the end of the lead.
The same cannot be said of the dog-walker as the process becomes tiring, stressful and may even become a battle between the walker and the walked.
It can result in the dog being out of control and may easily result in a dangerous trip or fall for the walker.
This invention prevents the dog from pulling at the end of the lead in a harmless and non-physical manner.
The unit comprises a moulded handle(A) which incorporates a comfort' grip.
Housed in the body of the handle is a canister of harmless inert gas(B) with a valve at one end. This lines up with a simple trigger(C) which can open and shut the valve(D) when pressed and released. The valve is connected to a flexible plastic tube(E) which passes inside a hollow lead(F) and exits at the collar clip(G).
When the dog is attached at the collar clip the end of tube(E) points at the scruff of the dog's neck.
When the dog attempts to pull, the dog walker depresses the trigger(C) and a short burst of air is emitted into the dogs scruff. The burst of air and the short sharp hiss' sound breaks the dog's concentration and the dog immediately stops pulling.
Should the dog begin to pull again, the walker repeats the process and regains control of the dog.
When used consistently, the number of applications can be reduced until the dog's pulling stops entirely.
This represents a painless and non-physical method of gaining control of dog which pulls on the lead. Claim

Claims (1)

  1. A dog training lead which gains control of a dog that pulls in a humane and non-physical manner by using a controlled blast of harmless compressed inert gas along a hollow lead into the dogs scruff.
The handler does not need to exert any physical force upon the dog and the dog can be controlled safely and with minimum effort.
Repeated use of this training lead will have a lasting effect on the dog's behaviour and eliminate this unwanted bad habit.
