Abstract

245,253. Bruce, A. W. Nov. 18, 1924. Railway locomotives, steam.-Comprises a three-cylinder locomotive having valve-gear of the Walschaert type in which the slotted link 5a of the middle cylinder valve-gear is oscillated from a return crank 3a through the intermediary of a rock-shaft 9, arms 9a, 9b on which are connected to the crank 3a and the link 5a, respectively. The rod 4b connecting the arm 9b to the link- 5a is connected to the upper end of the latter, in order to clear the crank of the middle cylinder. The lead lever 7b of the middle cylinder is bifurcated to straddle the crosshead. The radius rods 6, 6a of the three cylinders are moved simultaneously for reversing by arms 13b on a rock-shaft 13.
