Abstract

A tongue cleaning device attaches to the shaft of an electric toothbrush by means of flexible clips. The device has a textured surface for cleaning the tongue, this surface being made from rubber or a polymer base. The clips are designed in such a way to permit flexibility as well as rigidity, the clips may be "U"-shaped. Because of the conical design of most toothbrush shafts, the clips may allow for some movement down the shaft, but if it does slide down, it will tighten.

Description

SPECIFICATIONS /
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, BE IT KNOWN THAT I, Erik Westerman, have invented a new and useful Tongue cleaning attachment device of which the following is a
specification:
The present invention relates to a device for personal cleaning and, more particularly, to a scraper device for removing undesired matter from a user's tongue and, even more particularly, the invention relates to a scraper and tongue-treating device for removing plaque and debris from the tongue in order to prevent halitosis. It is fitted onto an electric toothbrush by means of clips that adapt to the various sizes of electric toothbrush shafts currently available on the market.
BACKGROUI'fl) OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
This invention relates generally to the field of apparatus as a scraper device for removing undesired matter from a user's tongue and, even more particularly, the invention relates to a scraper and tongue-treating device for removing plaque and debris from the tongue in order to prevent halitosis. It is fitted onto an electric toothbrush's head by means of clips. Moreover it pertains specifically to such apparatus for general oral hygiene. w
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
In view of the limitations now present in the prior art, the present invention provides a new and useful tongue cleaning device which is simpler in construction, more universally usable and more versatile in operation than known apparatus of this kind.
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a new removable tongue cleaning device that has many novel features not offered by the prior art apparatus that result in a new tongue cleaning device which is not apparent, obvious, or suggested, either directly or indirectly by any of the prior art apparatus.
Physical description of the invention
The device comprises of two flexible clips attached to a fiat, oval shaped ribbed plate.
On the opposite side of the ribbed plate is an affixed cut pattern of rubber. There are only four components comprising the whole tongue cleaning device, the latter being the two clips, the ribbed backing plate, and the rubber sheet pattern.
The foregoing has outlined, in general, the physical aspects of the invention and is to serve as an aid to better understanding the more complete detailed description which is to follow. In reference to such, there is to be a clear understanding that the present invention is not limited to the method or detail of construction, fabrication, material, or application of use described and illustrated herein. Any other variation of fabrication, use, or application should be considered apparent as an alternative embodiment of the present invention.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly several advantages and objects of the present invention are: A principal object of the present invention is to provide a compact, removable and reusable tongue cleaner that will overcome the deficiencies of the prior art devices.
An object of the present invention is to provide a tongue-cleaning device that adapts to fit universally on any electric toothbrush shaft.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a compact reusable device that allows the user to carry only one oral hygiene device.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a long lasting and durable tongue cleaner/scraper device that can be easily stored or permanently attaché to an electric toothbrush.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a tongue-cleaning device that is more universally functional in today's market than the prior art devices.
It is intended that any other advantages and objects of the present invention that become apparent or obvious from the detailed description or illustrations contained herein are within the scope of the present invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The following drawings further describe by illustration the advantages and objects of the present invention. Each drawing is referenced by corresponding figure reference characters within the "DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION" section to follow.
FIG. 1. is a perspective view of the tongue cleaning clip according to the present invention.
FIG.2. is a front view of the tongue cleaning clipaccording to the present invention.
FIG.3. is a rear view of the tongue cleaning clip according to the present invention.
FIG.4. is a side view of the tongue cleaning clip according to the present invention.
FIG.5. is a top view of the tongue cleaning clipaccording to the present invention.
FIG.6. is a front view of the ribbed surface component of the present invention.
FIG.7. is front view of the rubber tongue cleaning surface.
FIG.8. is a top view of the clips displaying their stretching capabilities.
FIG.9. is an isometric view of the clips, and their positioned height distances according to the present invention.
FIG. 10. is a side view of a the tongue cleaning clip attached to a replaceable electrical toothbrush head according to the present invention.
FIG.!!. is a top view of a the tongue cleaning clip attached to a replaceable electrical toothbrush head according to the present invention.
FIG. 12 is a cross sectional view of the tongue cleaning clip attached to a replaceable electrical toothbrush head being used as viewed through a cross-section of the mouth.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring now descriptively to the drawings, the attached figures illustrate the tongue cleaning clip and how it will attach itself to an electric toothbrush.
Figures 1-5 illustrates the tongue cleaning clip in its normal state, detached from the electric toothbrush replaceable head.
Figure 6 illustrates the ribbed plate design to allow for water to be rinsed through the device after use Figure 7 illustrates the pattern used for the design that will contain and permit mucus collection, and easy rinsing.
Figure 8-9 illustrates the clips shape and flexibility for acceptance of a shaft shaped object Figure 10 illustrates the tongue cleaning clip attached to a replaceable electrical toothbrush head according to the present invention.
Figure 11 illustrates the tongue cleaning clip attached to a replaceable electrical toothbrush bead according to the present invention.
Figure 12 illustrates a cross sectional view of the tongue cleaning clip attached to a replaceable electrical toothbrush head being used as viewed through a cross-section of the mouth.
The present invention comprises two "U" shaped clips (see fig. 8) that are part of a single embodiment, as seen in FIGURE 4. Both clips are welded onto the ribbed plate (fig.6) equidistantly on upper and lower edges of the ribbed plate. These clips are shaped to accept a cylindrical shape, such as the shaft of a replaceable toothbrush head (as demonstrated in figs. 10-11) by means of pushing the clip down onto the shaft thereby pushing the mouth of the clip apart to accept the article.
It will also be understood that, in addition to a scraper device for removing undesired matter from a user's tongue the device can be used to massage the gums of the user.
It is further intended that any other embodiments of the present invention that result from any changes in application or method of use or operation, method of manufacture, shape, size, or material which are not specified within the detailed written description or illustrations contained herein yet are considered apparent or obvious to one skilled in the art are within the scope of the present invention.
