Abstract

A table comprises an inner unit 36, an outer unit 34, and a folding mechanism 1, 2, 4 assisted by springs 32 to raise and lower the table. The inner unit may comprise a space for housing folded chairs 5. The folding mechanism may be assisted by a damped suspension strut, which may be assisted by gas or air pressure. The table may be converted between a coffee table mode (Figs. 3, 4), in which the mechanism is folded, and a dining table mode (Figs. 5, 6), in which the mechanism is unfolded and the outer unit is raised relative to the inner unit. The folding mechanism may be locked in its unfolded position, and a release system (30, Fig. 7) may be provided which disengages the locked folding mechanism when pulled.

Description

* 2451131 The Folding Coffee / Dining Table and Choirs This invention relates to a multi purpose table that converts from a table of low occasional height to that of a table raised to be sufficient for use as a dining table or for any other purpose.

A dining table and chairs is very useful for allowing family members or friends to enjoy their meals together. However, when the dining table and chairs ore not in use, their usefulness becomes minimal. Also, the space required for a dining table and choirs con take up a lot of valuable space within The home.

The present invention proposes a coffee/dining table that con be raised or lowered in height according to what purpose it shall be used for. The dining choirs being of a folding design that can be stored within the table. -The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1. Claims

Claims 1. A folding coffee/ dining table and chairs of a foldaway design located within an inner casing of the table, with spring assisted folding mechanism to assist in raising and lowering the table, this mechanism being connected to the inside of the inner casing while also connected to the inside of the outer casing.
2. A folding coffee/dining table and chairs according to claim I in which the folding mechanism is assisted by a damped suspension strut.
3. A folding coffee/ dining table and chairs according to claim 1 in which the folding mechanism is assisted by a gas assisted strut.
4. A folding coffee/dining table and, chairs according to claim 1 in which the mechanism is assisted with on air pressure strut.
5. A folding coffee/dining table and chairs according to claim 1 in which the mechanism is located within any part of the inside of the

table.
6. A folding coffee/dining table and chairs according to claim I in which the mechanism has any kind of raising or lowering assistance.
