Abstract

A roof ladder or stairs has a pair of spaced apart longitudinal members between which are located a plurality of spaced apart transverse treads or handgrips. At least one transverse engagement means may be provided which rests on at least one roof batten or lath. A planar locking device may be affixed to said engagement means and may protrude under said roof batten thereby acting to prevent said roof ladder from lifting off said roof. Following engagement of said ladder with said battens a locking bolt may be engaged with a further edge of said batten thereby said batten is engaged on all four sides.

Description

2f511h1 Roof Access Device, Number 2 Roof stairs are a short flight of stairs, see fig. I, mounted on the tile battens of a pitched roof, see figs 4 and 5. Roof stairs are three types of stairs to access different parts of a pitched roof: type A fig. 2 gives a better, safe access to sloped edges of a hipped roof.
Fig. 4. The straight type, fig I, gives access to general areas of the roof, the V type of stairs, see fig 3, is used to get better safe access to the valleys of a pitched roof. The reason for the short lengths of these stairs is so that the stairs can be added or removed as progress is made up or down, or across the roof, (see fig. 4) as required. All types of the stairs can be placed onto the roof's battens and safely locked into position, see fig 1. And fig. 5, so they may not be dislodged accidentally and are safe and comfortable to use whilst working on a pitched roof. The stain can be made in longer lengths as require, and with handrails if required. The stairs can be made in wood or metal. The stain may be made at different angles to suit different angle roofs. 2.
