Abstract

Non slip footwear comprises a rubber band 1 that covers the ball area of the wearer's foot, the area of the band that covers the sole of the foot has a textured or tread 3 to provide extra grip. Preferably the band 1 is joined together to form a toe anchor 2 that engages the wearer's foot between their big toe and second toe or any other combination. The footwear has a sole large enough to allow adequate grip yet small enough to be worn whilst swimming and causing limited drag.

Brief background
During a stay at a hotel with my wife and daughter I decided to use the pool and to take my two year old for a swim. During our time at the pool, my daughter slipped on the wet tiles and bumped her head. Nothing serious fortunately and nothing unusual either, it seems that nearly all dads and mums have similar stories (some worse than others) and all are a little tense with their children around pools. That's why I started to think of ways to make the whole thing a little safer.
Introducing the Poolside anti-slip footwear Quite simply the device is a small rubber strip that slips over the ball of the foot probably anchored between the big toe and second toe and has a textured area or tread on the underside for extra grip. It would be made of soft, flexible, stretchy rubber-like material for an extra snug fit -like a second skin. The device covers the minimum area of sole necessary to allow adequate grip to avoid slipping but is small enough to be worn whilst swimming, causing minimum drag and is discreet enough to not cause embarrassment to image conscious kids.

The device would be available in a variety of colours and patterns and possibly also novelty versions with third party endorsement (Mr Men, Noddy, Finding Nemo characters etc) for younger users. 2.
