Lubricant conveyed by mechanical means; liquid level, maintaining.-The journal t of a railway-vehicle is lubricated by a buoyant corrugated roller c, the trunnions d of which are guided in forked brackets b mounted in an oil tray a in which a constant level is maintained by a closed reservoir f on the bird-fountain principle. The tray a and reservoir f are integral with each other and are held in position by a spring o. A partition k, through which the discharge pipe g of the reservoir passes, restricts the size of the oil bath. The walls l of the trav are bent inwards and fit under eaves p in the journal-box s, and the reservoir is provided with a ring segment m having an inturned edge n seated in a recess in the box s, whereby surplus oil is caught and returned to the tray. In a modification, the tray a and reservoir f are separate.
