Abstract
An excavator attachment tool fits onto arms of a conventional excavator in place of a conventional excavator bucket. The tool is secured by two pivots 4,5 and can be fitted in a matter of minutes, enabling a single operative to move sheet piles in a safe and efficient manner. In use, a blade 1 of the tool is inserted down the length of the pile 7. As the arms 6 of the excavator are raised, the blade 1 pivots on the pins 4,5 and comes to rest against the frame 3, such that the weight of the pile 7 holds it securely in position between the foot 2 and the blade 1. When the pile is placed into position and the tool is tilted forward, the blade swings on pivots 4,5 and allows the tool to be withdrawn from the pile.

DESCRIPTION
Excavator attachment tool for moving sheet steel piles Moving steel piles around the yard or on site can be a dangerous, time consuming and labour intensive operation.
Normally to cany out this operation a crawler crane is used along with a driver and two other operatives However moving of piles by this method can obstruct the crane driver's vision considerably and he has to rely on hand signals from the other operatives, it is also veiy time consuming as the piles have to be chained together and lifted veiy slowly to prevent the load swinging to and fro, should this occur the only way to stop the sway is by hand and this can be a dangerous operation.
The excavator attachment is a tool that fits onto the arms of a conventional excavator; it is secured by two pivot pins and replaces the conventional bucket, and can be fitted in a matter of a few minuets Once in place it allows the excavator driver to move piles on his own, the blade of the tool is inserted down the length of the pile, the excavator arms are then raised and in doing so trapping the pile between the foot of the tool and the blade this action grips the pile securely, the pile can then be moved to any location in safety and by only one operative.
The excavator driver has full 3600 vision of where the pile is going to be placed The tool can be adapted to fit most makes of excavator.
Figure 1 shows the tool itself the pile is inserted between the blade 1 and the foot 2 as the arms of the excavator 6 are raised the blade pivots on the pins 5-4 and the pile is trapped between foot 2 and blade 1 holding the pile securely in place.
When the pile is placed into position and the tool is tilted forward the blade swings for ward on pivots 4-5 and allows the tool to be withdrawn.
Figure 2 shows the tool tilted forward and the pile 7 secured in place between blade I and foot 2. As the tool is raised the blade 1 comes to rest against the frame 3 and the weight of the pile holds itself securely in position between the foot 2 and blade 1.
Claims (5)
1. An attachment tool for fitting onto an excavator machine in place of the normal bucket for providing a safe and efficient method of moving and stacking piles.
2. An attachment tool according to claim 1 that can be fitted in a few minuets.
3. An attachment tool according to claim 1 that saves time moving sheet piles.
4. An attachment tool according to claim I that provides a safer method for moving and stacking piles
5. An attachment tool according to claim I that reduces the manpower needed to cany out the loading/unloading/stacking of sheet piles.
