Abstract
The invention relates to a twin skinned firewall comprising a top hat shaped beam fixed to the external side of a liner sheet via a bracket that is also top hat shaped, but smaller and deeper than the top hat shaped beam. The bracket and beam are secured together by fixings, preferably with a thermal pad inserted between the bracket and the beam to reduce heat transfer between the two. Strips of galvanised steel run between the top hat beams and are secured to the beams by clips. The strips are fixed so as to be a minimum distance from the liner sheet and will support glass fibre insulation such that it does not touch the liner sheet when compressed by exterior cladding sheets. An air gap may be therefore be maintained between the liner sheet and insulation so that the glass fibre does not melt.

SPECIALISED SPACER ASSEMBLY
THIS DOCUMENT DESCRIBES SYSTEM FOR WHICH PATENT IS APPLIED
THE PRINCIPLE INVOLVED IS TO CREATE A SPACER SYSTEM FOR A TWIN SKINNED
WALL, THAT WILL CONTAIN A FIRE BEYOND 4 HOURS, AND MAINTAIN INSULATION INTEGRITY FOR A PERiOD OF 3OMJNS, WHICH IS A COMMON REQUIREMENT [N THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.
WHEREAS SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN DEVISED FOR CLADDING WHICH IS LAID IN A
VERTICAL POSITION, THIS ASSEMBLE IS DEVISED FOR CLADDING WHICH IS APPLIED HORIZONTALLY.
THE COMPONENT PARTS OF THIS ASSEMBLY ARE SHOWN ON THE ATACHED
DRAWINGS. THEY ARE A TOP HAT SHAPED BAR, WHICH WOULD BE 4MTRS LONG UP TO AS LONG AS REQUIRED FOR THE HEIGHT OF THE BUILDING, BUT GENERALLY TO APPROX 8METRES LONG. THESE BARS WOULD BE FIXED VERTICALLY ON THE EXTERNAL SIDE OF A LINER SHEET AT THE SHEETING RAILS VIA A SMALLER, DEEPER TOP HAT. THE LONGER TOP HAT BEING SECURED BY FIXINGS TO THE SMALLER TOP HAT, WHICH IN TURN HAS BEEN SECURED TO THE SHEETING RAILS. A THERMAL PAD
OR TAPE WOULD BE INSERTED UNDER THE SECOND TOP HAT BRACKETS THAT ARE
FIXED TO THE SHEETING RAILS, TO AVOID ANY TRANSFER OF HEAT FROM INSIDE THE BUILDING VIA THE SPACER SYSTEM TO TI-fE OUTER SHEET, FORMING HOT SPOTS ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE WALL.
AT THE POINT WHERE THE BASE OF THE TOP HAT CHANNEL RUNS VERTICALLY, IT IS INTENDED TO INSERT A FOLD BACK TYPE CLIP HOLE, THAT WILL ACCOMMODATE A
STRIP OF GALVANISED STEEL THAT WILL RUN ACROSS THE STRUCTURE TO THE NEXT
VERTICAL CHANNEL, AND MAY BE CUT TO LENGTH. THIS STRIP WILL BE A MINIMUM OF 40MM FROM THE LINER SHEET, AND GLASS FIBRE WILL BE LAID OVER THIS STRiP, WITHOUT TOUCHING THE LINER TRAY, WHEN COMPRESSED BY THE EXTERIOR CLADDING SHEET WHICH IS TO BE FIXED HORIZONTALLY. THIS WILL MAINTAIN AN AIR GAP BETWEEN LINER SHEET AND INSULATION, AND AVOID THE GLASS FIBRE MELTING.
THIS SYSTEM WOULD BE AN OPTION TO THE USE OF ROCKWOOL INSULATION, WHICH iS WIDELY USED, BUT IS DIFFICULT TO HANDLE, AND HAS A TENDENCY TO DROP iF NOT FULLY SUPPORTED.
