Abstract
Am electrically powered, portable moisture condensing unit that can dispense water on demand for drinking, cooking and / or cleaning uses via a tap 7, drawing power from an inbuilt solar panel 3 or from external electrical power supplies. A motor 4 is preferably provided for driving a heat pump 5 which reduces the internal temperature by radiating heat to the outside 6. A battery pack may be provided for storing power from the solar panels when the device is not in use. Other power sources can be provided to a power socket 9 may be provided with a dirt cover 10. The condensing unit is preferably provided with adjustable 2 straps 1 such that the device can be carried in the form of a backpack. Alternatively, the device may be adapted to be carried in the form of a suitcase.
Description
Moisture Condensing Unit This invention relates to a device for a
portable machine for the condensation of water moisture from the air for drinking, cooking and I or cleaning purposes.
When camping or in areas where utility supply is not available, the supply of water is important. This, traditionally, comes from natural sources or from supplies brought th the traveller.
However both natural sources and supplies brought with the traveller are limited and in some Circumstances, such as a natural disaster, are lost or hard to locate. In such circumstances supplies brought in are often poorly distributed and administered resulting in shortage. In extreme circumstances, such supplies are not available. Even as part of a simple camping expedition, the need to conserve water is observed. To overcome this problem, the present invention proposes a portable electronic unit that will reduce its internal temperature to allow moisture present in the air to be condensed inside the device for storage and preferably allow it to pass into a suitable receptacle.
The condensed water moisture will afford a supply of water for a person to survive on.
Preferably the electrical power can be supplied from a number of sources, as available.
Preferably the unit features at least one solar panel to either run the electrical circuits itself or charge a power cell.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a configuration for carrying as a back pack.
Figure 2 shows a unit with a carrying handle.
In Figure 1 the condensing unit includes 2 straps (1) to allow it to be carned in the same way as a back pack These straps are adjustable (2). A solar panel is mounted on the rear face of the unit (3). The unit is fitted with a low voltage motor (4) which, through a number of rotating members supplies motive force to a heat pump (5) which in turn reduces the internal temperature of the unit via radiating the heat to the outside (6), thus allowing moisture to form and to be collected in a storage tank. This water can then be poured into a receptacle via a tap (7). When not in use the Solar panel stores power in a battery pack (8). Other power supplies can be provided via a power socket (9) protected by a cover to prevent dirt or damage (10).
same way a suitcase. A solar panel is mounted on the unit (2). The unit is fitted with a low voltage motor (3) which, through a number of rotating members supplies motive force to a heat pump (4) which in turn reduces the internal temperature of the unit via radiating the heat to the outside (5), thus allowing moisture to form and to be collected in a storage tank. This water can then be poured into a receptacle via a tap (6). When not in use the Solar panel stores power in a battery pack (7). Other power supplies can be provided via a power socket (8) protected by a cover to prevent dirt or damage (9).
