Abstract
A carrying handle for use with supermarket plastic bags 8 and the like comprises an arcuate U-shaped member 2 with a longitudinal slot therein that in use receives the handles 6 of the supermarket plastic bags or the like so as to retain them in the carrying handle. The carrying handle may have wings 1 and an ergonomic, rubberised grip 5. The carrying handle is preferably injection moulded in plastic but maybe fabricated from a variety of other materials including metal, wood or carbon fibre.
Description
Title: Bag Handle Rest
Background:
This invention relates to a handle-rest to aid the carrying of a bag or multiple bags.
When carrying a bag or multiple bags with items in them, they tend to chafe and hurt the hands. The heavier the bag/bags the worse the discomfort becomes. This is especially true of the thin plastic bags, such as the type commonly used at supermarkets etc.
Statement Of Invention:
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a handle-rest to support the bag or multiple bags.
Advantages: * The handle-rest will make sure that the bag/bags are more comfortable to hold.
* The handle-rest will hold a bag or several bags at the same time.
* The handle-rest will make the weight a lot easer to carry.
* Preferably the handle-rest could have wings' to hold the bag/bags in place better.
* Preferably the handle-rest could have indents for the fingers to rest in place.
* Preferably the handle-rest could be made out of several different materials.
* Preferably the handle-rest could be made in lots of different colours and finishes.
Introduction Of Drawings:
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1: shows what the bag handle-rest looks like from the front when in use, according to the invention. (front elevation) All the important preferable extras are shown and noted accordingly.
Figure 2: shows what the bag handle-rest looks like from the front according to the invention.
(front elevation) All the important preferable extras are shown and noted accordingly.
Figure 3: shows what the bag handle-rest looks like from the side according to the invention.
(side elevation) All the important preferable extras are shown and noted accordingly Figure 4: shows what the bag handle-rest looks like from the bottom according to the invention. (bottom elevation) All the important preferable extras are shown and noted accordingly.
Detailed Descriptions:
In figures 1 / 2 / 3 & 4, the main body (j) of the handle-rest is U' shaped () (figure 3 & 4) when looked at from the side elevation. This is the main feature of the invention, as it alone holds the bag/bags in place and act as a surrogate handle. The other preferable ideas are mostly for comfort and slightly easer use. They are as follows: L Relates to the wings' which are designed to accommodate more bags and keep them securely in place, even when bags are placed down. (figure 1, 2, 3 & 4) Relates to the U' shape in which the main body has to accommodate the plastic bag/bags, and also to keep them out of the way of the users hand. (figure 1, 2, 3 & 4) This shape can be altered/streamlined to a more efficient/comfortable shape as the product is developed.
4. Relates to the indents in the bag handle are for a more secure and comfortable grip.
(figure I,2,&4) 5. Relates to the rubberised grip on the bag handle for even more secure and comfortable grip. (figure 1, 2, & 4) Shows how the bag/bags fit in to the bag handle-rest, and how it works in practise.
(figure 1) 1 Relates to the hand of the person cariying it. To demonstrate how it is used. (figure 1) & Relates to how the bag/bags are carried. (figure 1) The most likely final product will be a combination of the above preferable (1. / 4. / 5.) and the main body (2) A more expensive model could be produced with the addition of (4. /5.) For instance a combination of LI and 3. would probably be the cheapest to manufacture if injection moulding was to be used.
The plastic bag handle-rest can be manufactured out of many different materials.
Such as: * Plastic, (e.g. plastic injection moulding) * Metal (e.g. cast, or pressed) * Wood (e.g. machined) * Carbon fibre Plastic injection moulding is most likely to be the manufacturing process to be used to make the handle-rests, for various reasons such as: * Cost (due to cheap material, and fast production times).
* Time (high numbers of bag handles could be made in a very short time).
* Weight (lower shipment costs).
* Strength (good strength to weight ratio).
* Preferable features easer to add. (soft rubberised grip (.), indentations for fingers (4...), wings for bag/bags (13.) Colours (plastics can be in a multitude of colours).
