Abstract

A free standing watering can catches rain water through a broad, conical shaped funnel 1 at the top of the can serving as a filling attachment. The funnel collects rainwater freely as it falls onto the filling attachment by gravity. The can fills up with rainwater depending on the amount of rainfall the filling attachment is exposed to in the open air. The watering can may also be filled up manually from a domestic water supply by removing the attachment. The can is made from blow moulded plastic and has a cavity to store water inside. The funnel may have internal curved grooves 6. The body of the can may be generally hemispherical.

Description
Title: The Genie Can, A WATERING CAN THAT COLLECTS RAINWATER EFFICIENTLY
Background
The invention relates specifically to watering cans and to the field of domestic rainwater collection and more specifically to the area of watering cans intended for the collection and storage of rainwater to dispense onto plants and vegetation in a domestic setting.
Problem Existing watering cans do not maxbnise collection of rainwater when they are left standing in a garden or other such area outside. Existing watering cans have a limited aperture exposed to rain fall. This aperture is often obscured by the handle of the watering can its self, further stopping water from collecting freely, thus rain water does not easily and freely collect into existing watering cans left standing in the open air of a domestic garden or location.
Solution TheGenie Canhas anaperturewithabroad, conicalshapeplacedatthe top of the can, the surface area of this collects rainwater efficiently and allows the rainwater to collect freely by gravity, running into the storage area of the can below. The advantage and benefit of this system of collection is water conservation without much effort on the part of the user of the can. The Genie Can is unique because of this collecting attachment idea. This broad, conical shaped collector can be easily removed to allow for cleaning and further access to the filling area if the can is being filled up from a domestic supply. Because the Genie Can freely collects rainwater when left standing the user will find the can is often full and ready to use with rainwater for watering a garden. The broad conical shape will also help deflect the sun and therefore minimise evaporation. The Genie Can has a hemisphere shaped body, which gives a stable base, making it able to with stand being blown over by the wind until filled with water.

Claims (5)

  1. Claims 1. A watering can that maximises the availability of rainwater
that freely fills up with rainwater by gravity via a specifically designed filling attachment.
  2. 2. The watering can of claim 1 has a filling attachment with an aperture at the top of the can with a broad, conical shape designed to maximise the collection of rainwater.
  3. 3. The watering can of claim 2, freely collects rainwater depending on the filling attachment's aperture at the top of the can with a broad, conical shape being exposed to the open air during rainy weather conditions.
  4. 4. The watering can of claim 3 can be manually filled with water from a domestic water supply.
  5. 5. The watering can of claim 4 is used to collect and store available rainwater for dispensing at the leisure of a said user of the watering can.
