Abstract
A shed comprises a roof and side walls but is open at its front, with means for receiving at least two recycling collection receptacles one above the other therein. Those means may comprise runners fixed to the sidewalls, along which rim flanges of plastics boxes constituting the receptacles can slide. The side walls may be of modular construction with joints between successive vertical sections. The shed may be made from a number of materials such as timber, aluminium, steel, or plastics.
Description
Re-cycling Bin Shed
Description
More and more local Councils are providing residents with numerous plastic bins for the purposes of re_cycling items such as paper, plastic, cans and glass. The problem with this is that they are unsightly when placed outside the properties, they can take up a lot of room and can tend to blow away in strong winds when they are empty. If they are stacked on top of each other in an attempt to reduce the amount of floor space taken up, they have to be continually moved about so that one can put items into the lower bins.
This invention is a simple shed like construction that could be manufactured from timber, aluminium, steel or plastic. It can be made in one piece to house two or three "bins" [ref. A] or it could be made in modular form so as to accommodate any number of re-cycling bins.
The modular format would typically comprise a top section with a sloping roof [ref B], to which one or two "body" units [ref. C and D] can be added. This gives the flexibility to house from two to six bins (if a second top unit is added) and allows for further expansion, should the Local Council provide additional bins in the future. Similarly this option could be utilised for blocks of flats by using the appropriate number of top sections and body units.
Use of this item is very simple, the "bins" are just slid in and out on fixed runners [ref E] from the open front of the unit, giving easy access to each individual box for filling and then subsequent removal on "Collection Day". :2;
