Abstract
The support, used in conjunction with a paddock stand or other lift device, provides a solid adjustable base 1 on which to remove or replace a motorcycle wheel and/or service the same. The base 1 has side extensions 2 providing rebates 7; these accept side edges of an insert to vary the height of the device. A set of such inserts of various thicknesses can be used either singly or stacked for height variation.
Description
Title: Motorcycle wheel Tool.
Background
All to often when working on the wheels I or associated components of the motorbike wheels in particular, the wheel has to be held with one hand while the axle bolt is withdrawn, allowing the wheel uncontrollably to drop to the floor. When the wheel is refitted if you do not have someone to assist in the lifting of the wheel, whilst the axle bolt is refitted, the simple task does not always go to plan, with the brake brackets, bushes, and such like, moving out of alignment by which time you need to put the wheel down and repeat the procedure over again.
Statement of Invention.
Whilst club racing last season I looked for something to do the job to find no one had anything on the market, and preceded to develop this special tool.
The motorcycle sliding wheel support tool was principally designed with the aid of a paddock stand or other motorcycle lift device, to provide an easy solid adjustable platform on which to lower the wheel onto, and being able to gently roll the wheel into position for refitting without the need of another pair of hands or some other inanimate object. It further allows the sliding wheel support if in contact with the wheel to be easily removed by turning the wheel in any direction which simply slides the various platforms away from the base allowing the removal of the support, and not the moving of the motorcycle.
Advantages It will make the removal and refitting of the wheels easier, along with routine maintenance, especially when confronting the task alone. The shape, design, and materials make it light, with high impact strength, and because it is small can be carried in tank bags and such like.
Introduction to Drawing
The Invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1, would consist of a rectangle base 1, with detachable rubber feet 6. On each side of the base there are side extensions 2, leaving the middle of the base open, with two rebates 7 for the glide rails 5. The front is tapered and contains a pre-drilled hole 3. There are five separate inserts alike feature as 4 in Figure 2, measuring six millimetres, nine millimetres, twelve millimetres, eighteen millimetres, and twenty five millimetres in height. These inserts slide in between the base sides and create different heights. Fitted on the inserts where one makes contact with the other, will be fitted aluminium glide rails 5.
Detailed description.
The motorcycle sliding wheel support would be constructed of the best quality materials commonly accepted and used in the manufacturing industry today. The base has a rectangular design approximately thirty-four millimetres in height, by fifty centimetres in length, and twenty centimetres in width, and constructed from various materials. There are five separate inserts with aluminium glide rails so as to allow them to be stacked on top of each other and slide in both directions, being forward and backwards. The inserts 4 as in Figure 2 will be of varying thickness 6mm -9mm -12mm-18mm -25mm.
Claims (3)
- Claims 1 A sliding base to support a motorcycle wheel or wheels.
- 2 A sliding base as in claim 1 in which it has one or more inserts of various thickness to allow the removal and ease of refitting the wheels of a motorcycle.
- 3 A sliding base as in claim I and claim 2 to allow the operation of wheel removal, service and the refitting to be accomplished by one person, with ease.
