Abstract
When the invention is applied to a non-porous surface and forms a lacquer coating, this coating will begin to kill bacteria as soon as they are deposited on the surface of the coating. Should an item not be regularly cleaned, and then within a continuous cycle bacteria is automatically killed by the invention. This invention can be easily applied as an 'after fit' product and is suited for use on most non-porous surfaces to give anti-bacterial protection. The lacquer contains silver as an active ingredient. The lacquer may also contain Worleesol Resin (an alkyd emulsion resin), butyl glycol, OMG 44 (salicylglyoxime), ammonia solution, water, OK412 (silicon dioxide) as a mailing agent, and ST1100. The solution may be dispensed via aerosol cans. The lacquer may be used in hospitals, food preparation areas, toilets and public areas where cross-contamination from human hands is possible. These include door handles, push plates, water taps, flush handles, bed frames, hospital trolleys, cash tills, beer pumps and catering equipment.
Description
A WATER BASED ANTI-BACTERIAL I MICROBIAL LACOUER FOR NON
POROUS SURFACES
BACKGROUND
Thu invention relates to an Anti-Bacterial/Microbial Water Based Lacquer that can be used on Non-Porous surfaces.
The growth of Bactena, Risk of cross-contamination and spread of Infections in public places Including Hospitals Is extremely high. This is due to Bacteria being picked up and spread by the Human Hand i.e. Touch. This contamination happens everywhere however certain key areas, Such as, Hospitals, Food preparation areas, Toilets and Public Areas are potentially HIGH RISK AREAS of Cress-Contamination.
There are certain HOT SPOTS' where cleaning can be difficult, hard to reach or easily neglected, such as: 1. High traffic public areas with doors and door furniture i.e. Door Handles, Push Plates etc. 2. Toilet areas where Water Taps, flush Handles and Exit Doors are regularly touched.
3. Bed Frames, especially in Hospitals, Hospital Trolleys and associated Metal pieces of equipment are regularly touched and moved from area to area.
4. Catering equipment, which is regularly, touched i.e. Cash Tills, Beer Dispensing Pumps and associated equipment.
Anywhere the spread of bacteria could cause a SERIOUS HEALTH HAZARD.
A WATER BASED ANTI-BACTERIAL / MICROBIAL LACOUR
JATEMENT OF INVENTION
1. To overcome the above, this Invention is a Water Based Anti-Bacterial Lacquer which both KILLS and also provides a lasting protection against the growth of BACTERIA when applied to Non-Porous surfaces.
2. The Invention is applied by spraying it onto the Non-Porous surface, which is then left to dry naturally. This will then provide an Anti-Bacterial coating.
3. The Invention could be supplied in an Aerosol Can containing the Water Based Anti-Bacterial Lacquer and could be used as a Do it Yourself' product.
ADVANTAGES
When the Invention is applied and forms a coating this coating will begin to kill bacteria as soon as they're deposited on the surface of the coating and will KILL up to 95% of Bacteria from its surface within 2 Hours.
The speed with which the entire population Is killed Is dependent on a number of factors; however, a reduction of 99.99% to 99.9999% within 24 hours is expected.
This can be contrasted with a non anti-microbial surface, on which bacteria can survive and indeed multiply for weeks or even months.
Should an item not be regularly cleaned, then within a continuous cycle Bacteria is automatically Killed by the Invention.
This Invention can be easily applied by most people as an Mter-Fit' product for any Non-Porous surface that does not have any built in Anti-Bacterial Protection.
The Anti-Bacterial properties of the Invention remain active for the life of the coating applied.
A WATER BASED ANTI-BACrERIAL I MICROBIAL LACOUER FOR NON
POROUS SURFACES
DETAILED DESCRiPTION
The following INGREDIENTS are added together and mixed in the correct proportions and to the correct procedures to produce a liquid solution. These INGREDIENTS could alter, be omitted or replaced in the event of any legislation in the future or product enhancement.
L3580 Marnich Non-Porous Water Based Anti-Microbial/ Anti Bacterial LacQuer Formula % Worleesol Resin 30.44% Butyl Glycol 3.80% 0MG 44 1.28% Ammonia Solution 3.04% Water 56.06% 0K412 2.11% Green tint 1.34% ST 11001.94% ACTiVE INGREDIENT: The natural anti-microbial properties of SILVER.
The resultant solution is then tested to ensure that it kills 95% of the Bacteria that it is tested for within 2 Hours.
When the Solution is applied and forms a coating this coating will begin to kill bacteria as soon as they're deposited on the surface of the coating.
The speed with which the entire population is killed is dependent on a number of factors; however, a reduction of 99.99% to 99.9999% within 24 hours is expected.
This can be contrasted with non-antimicrobial products, on which bacteria can survive and indeed multiply for weeks or even months.
This SOLUTION can then be dispensed into Aerosol Cans, packaged and ready for use.
