Abstract

The invention relates to the combined use of an interior rear view mirror (a) and a display screen (c). The display (c), integrated with rear view mirror (a), may display images from vehicle mounted camera(s) when reverse gear is selected. The device may be a simple replacement for a standard rear view mirror, attachable to the existing rear view mirror via attachment clips (e); also, the mirror may be attached by a vehicle mount bracket ((f), see Figure 1). The cameras, which may be mounted to the rear of the vehicle, could include night vision cameras. The mirror arrangement can carry an area (h) for switches including a master on/off switch. An arrangement of mirror glass (b) and a translucent (silver) film (d) is shown in Figure 8. This device can ensure safety in an automobile reversing manoeuvre, then automatically revert to a normal rear view mirror when reversing has been completed.
