Abstract

A fitness game for children with a horse theme comprises a horse's head attached to a harness via a clip. The harness fits over the chest of a child, allowing the child to move freely in the manner of a horse. A course comprising a number of fences or hurdles is provided for the child to jump over. A pedometer is provided, together with a pad to record the exercise carried out. Brushes and combs are also provided to groom the horse's head, and a hard hat to be worn by the child.

Description

1 2442207 Patent Application Horse Themed Fitness Game This is an
invention for an outdoor! indoor game, which also offers players the chance to record their exercise performance during activity. The game involves children partly dressing up as a horse and becoming the rider jumping over miniature fences.
The invention will also focus on the health benefits involved in this game for it's participants.
Statement of invention
To introduce a horse based game concept into the toy market based upon children partly dressing up as a horse and the child also becoming a horse rider and jumping over fences. The designed course mat will also provide a safe layout base. Further material will provide physical benefits for the child running the course. This will be indicated by an information slip (Health pad) providing details of estimated exercise levels achieved (calculated by a pedometer/ kcal) based on the number of times the course (circuit) is completed by the rider.
Advantages The child will experience the fun of pretending to be a horse and also will be involved with responsibilities such as grooming the mane.
Essentially, the dressing up outfit will include a unique attachment system that incorporates the horse's head. It will have a voice (sound activating system), which talks to the riders and also makes typical horse noises.
The horse outfit (i.e. horses head) will be connected to a body strap (which riders wear around them like a harness). The head will be detachable from the body strapping system via a clip mechanism located at the front of the harness. This will make it possible to interchange different horse's heads onto the body strapping system.
Features -Horse head. -Features detachable system and battery component to store activating horse sounds. The horse head also includes reins. Attached in a safety-regulated manner.
-The fences -features different types of fences within the range including the poles, the wall and the hedge. Each fence has pillars located at either side fo keep the unit upright. Each fence will be made up of components when assembled.
-The rider's hat and fetlocks -The rider's hat is designed to fit more than one size. The Fetlocks are worn around the lower legs and will be constructed in safety-regulated fabric.
-Rosettes -There will be 3 feature rosettes, named as 1 2nd, and 3rd -Base mat and course -the base mat and course provides the layout of where each fence should be located. The safety mat course is square but can be split into two (halved) ad elongated to double in length.
-Horse grooming brush/comb. -Also included in the kit will be a grooming set for grooming horses.
-A pedometer will be included within the kit to allow the parent and child to record the amount of activity (exercise) being undertaken.
Detailed Description
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.
The rider's outfit (figure 1) is worn over the person's head and sits on their shoulders, similar to a harness. Attached belt clips are located to the rear of the harness to secure it in place. There are adjustments on the straps to allow the harness to be fitted exactly, depending on the riders height and frame.
Attached to the harness is the horse's head (fig 2), which is also detachable from the harness (fig 1 & 3). The horse's head (fig 2) also features reins these are narrow straps attached to a bit used to guide the horse. The reins help the rider to keep the horse's head in the forward facing position. The lower part of the head base also holds a compartment for batteries. The horse's head includes a voice activator system which features horse noises and also talks to the rider, It is also an attachable and detachable system, which makes it possible to interchange different types of horse heads.
Each course includes 4 fences (fig 4,5,6,7) that are shaped in the style of 2 pole fences, a wall and a hedge. All fences are the same size as standard. The fences will be easy to assemble and be constructed in child friendly materials (lightweight construction). Each fence is completely collapsible and is made from individual compartments; this enables the fence to be flat packed.
The course mat (fig 8 & 9) determines the course design and how and where fences should be laid out. The mat has Iwo designs as follows: -A square version, (fig 8) Which can be elongated to make a long rectangle version of the course. (Fig 9) For those riders interested in keeping a record on their exercise performance a Health pad' is also provided in the kit. The Health pad (fig 10) provides a writing area for riders to corn pare details on previously completed courses and monitor their progress. Details are obtained via a pedometer, which is included within this set.
Accessories will be provided as part of the set. They will include a riding hat, ankle fetlocks, a grooming sef, pedometer, the health pad, 1, 2nd and 3rd place rosettes (fig I 1)

Claims (8)

  1. Product Range Claims 1. Claim 1:When the horse's head (fig 2) is
attached to the harness (fig 1) this ensures the head is in a forward facing position.
  2. 2. Claim 2: The horse head is detachable and interchangeable (fig 3) between different horse heads within the range. (As per claim 1)
  3. 3. Ckm3: The horse head features reins located on each side of the horses head (according to claim 1) and is positioned for holding by the rider.

  6. 6. Claim 6: The horse fences features (as per claim 2) easy assemble system.
  7. 7. Cim 7: The base mat (fig 8 & 9) features a flexible system design which holds the course i.e. square mat which can be split into two to create a double length race course.
  8. 8. Claim 8: The health pad (fig 10) provides an area for the riders to record their riding and exercise performance.
"mendment to claims have been filed as follows vaUon Product Range Claims Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is; -The invention relates to a hobby hoisel equestrian type of fitness game that can be used to help promote physical exercise in children, further more the child or parent can log (health check pad I figure 10) physical performance data by using information taken from the supplied pedometer (part of the game kit equipment I figure 11 and figure 1 3D) on their achievements.
One of the main features of the invention is the horse heads, which are detachable/attachable. The horse's head attaches to the body harness, which is worn by the child. For this report only one example of the horse head has been shown, the actual game will have various horse heads, which can be selected from the range.
(Figure 12) The horse's head is mainly made from fabric and soft materials used to stuff the horse head, however also located in the horse's head are a plastic box unit, which holds the speakers and batteries.
The horse themed fitness game will include where necessaiy modifications in the supplied illustrations of the invention. The invention is not to be limited to the particular forms indicated in the detailed description section and if necessaiy changes maybe made in the construction and azmngement of the pieces which make up the horse themed fitness game kit S. * * * The horse head -What is claimed is:-*..* * S **5* I) A horse head (or in fact any other toy animal head), which is attachable and : *** detachabletoachildwhoisweanngaharness.

There is a button is located in the horse's mouth and is activated by squeezing or pressing down the horse's mouth. The speaker box and batteries arc located in a plastic box within the horse's head. The battemy powers the chip to make horse sound noises (figure 15) 4) The harness also has a pouch located on the harness (lower) bottom strap. The pouch is used to hold a pedometer in place. The pouch has a closing system whereby the top lip can be closed down with Velcro to keep the pedometer in position.
    5) Horse reins are fixed to the horse's head. (Figure 16D) It is important to point out that the main feature of this invention is that the horse's head is attachable/ detachable; this is a unique feature of the invention. This design enables the child (user) to change different types of horse's heads; the horse heads themselves have different characteristic features i.e. different colour, shaped eyes and facial expressions.
