STORAGE DEVICE FOR DISCS

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims priority of Taiwanese Application No. 095213743, filed on August 4, 2006.

RACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a storage device, more particularly to a storage device for discs.

2. Description of the Related Art

Referring to Fig. 1, a conventional storage device 1 for compact discs includes a casing 11. having two spaced-apart lateral walls 14, and a partition wall 12 between the lateral walls 14. The partition wall 12 is provided with a plurality of vertically spaced-apart rails 13 on two opposite faces thereof. The lateral walls 14 are respectively provided with a plurality of vertically spaced-apart rails 13' that are aligned horizontally and respectively with the rails 13 on the two opposite faces of the partition wall 12. Each two adjacent ones of the rails 13' on each lateral wall 14 cooperate with the aligned two adjacent ones of the rails 13 on the corresponding face of the partition wall 12 to define a receiving space. To store a disc in the storage device 1, the disc is first placed in a plastic case, after which the plastic case is inserted into one of the receiving spaces. When there is a large quantityofthediscs, thenumber of theconventional storage devices 1 is increased, and the storage devices 1 are stacked ( one on top of the other so as to create an expanded amount of storage space.

Because the plastic case of the disc occupies a substantial space, the quantity of the discs that can be stored in the storage device 1 is limited, so that the user must increase continuously the quantity of the storage devices 1, and must prepare simultaneously a large space for accommodating the increasing number of the storage devices 1.

Fig. 2 illustrates another conventional storage device 2 for compact discs. The storage device 2 includes a storage case 21, and a plurality of disc holders 22 stacked in the storage case 21. To store a compact disc, the compact disc is directly inserted into oneof the disc holders 22. Although the storage device 2 may occupy less space as compared to the storage device 1 of Fig. 1, when the quantity of the discs is substantially large, such a configuration of the storage device 2 makes it necessary for the user to consume a lot of time in flipping through the disc holders 22 to find the desired compact disc. Hence, use of the storage device 2 is tedious and inconvenient.

SURT OF TI INVENTION

Therefore, the object of the present invention is to provide a storage device that can effectively store discs and that can be easily expanded.

According to this invention, a storage device is adapted to hang a plurality of disc holders each including two ( opposite hook members. The storage device comprises a casing and at least one drawer. The casing includes a bottom wall, two lateral walls extending upwardly and respectively from two opposite lateral ends of the bottom wall, a top wall interconnecting top ends of the lateral walls, and at least one pair of horizontal rails projecting inwardly and respectively from inner surfaces of the lateral walls. The drawer is disposed in the casing, and is slidable along the rails. The drawer includes a drawer frame having two opposite lateral plates, and two slides provided respectively on outer surfaces of the lateral plates of the drawer frame to engage slidably and respectively the rails. Each of the lateral plates has a retainer projecting inwardly from an inner surface of one of the lateral plates of the drawer frame and adapted to engage one of the hook members of each of the disc holders.
