Abstract

243,919. Campbell, F. J. Jan. 14, 1925. Suction apparatus.-In adjusting the width of a suction box to the width of the deckle, the ends of the suction box are formed of a pair of transversely movable parts 4, 5, Fig. 1, and a vertically movable part 7, Fig. 3, of shallow triangular configuration. Each part has a circular hole surrounding cams 18, 19 in a collar 16 by the rotation of which the part may be pressed outwards against the sides and the bottom respectively. A rod 12 slidable through the collar 16 and having a cross pin 14 engaging slots 17 in the collar is used to rotate the cams. Strips of rubber 8, 9, 10, 11 act as seals for the parts 4, 5, 7, and a rubber bush 21 acts as a seal around the rod 12.
