Abstract
A process for preparing an adhesive comprises adding an alkaline compound, especially a hydroxide, to a carbohydrate solution or suspension. A typical composition contains 8% carbohydrate, 1% hydroxide, and 89-91% water.
Description

ORGANIC WATERPROOF ADHESIVE

FIELD OF INVENTION

This invention uses a carbrohydrate material and processes it with an alkaline compound that increases the viscosity on drying the final product is hard and waterproof.

BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION

The need for a low cost adhesive has become very necessary as the average raw material has increased dramatically in price over the last few years.

Therefore by using a low cost base material and processing it with a small amount of alkaline compound it produces a very strong, hard and waterproof final mixture.

OBJECT OF THE iNVENTION The main object of the invention is to use it where low temperatures are needed from ambient temperatures to about 300 C. This product is also required when the main body of the product requires a product to be water based.

THE PROCESS

By mixing a carbohydrate, one mainly formula (x (h20) y, with water, to form a suspension or solution depending on the temperature of the water.

To this mixture is added a small amount of alkaline material. The OH group is preferred. This combination will allow the mixture to increase in viscosity and can be used to hold various substances together. The ultimate product is at a low cost and once dried can withstand low temperatures. It is also waterproof provided sufficient mixture is used.

TYPICAL MIXTURE

Water 89-91% Carbohyrate 8% rn/rn OH Group 1% rn/rn
