Abstract

A card holder comprises a moulded case having a nip or riser to retain a card therein and at least one cut-out portion 1,2 allowing the user to remove the card therefrom. The cut-out portion may be semi-circular and located on one edge of the holder so as to aid with the insertion of a card into the holder and/or may be shaped and sited so as to allow the user's thumb to be used to remove the card from the holder. The card holder may be provided with an attachment point for a lanyard 6. In use, the card holder is especially suited to use with a card having a microchip.

Description

I

Micro Chip card Holder LGVs (Large Goods Vehicles) as of this year will be fitted with equipment to record data electronically. Access to this data is stored and recorded on individual micro chip cards.

This invention meets the need to protect the cards from damage. To overcome the probability of damage and loss the card holder is specifically designed to protect the card and micro chip by inserting the card into the micro chip card holder. The card will be securely held in place by internal risers. The inclusion of internal risers will stop the card from sliding out unintentionally.

The design and dimensions of this invention are both functional and tactile, not only is the micro chip card and micro chip protected when inserted into the micro chip card holder the actual design makes for carrying the micro chip card holder on ones person a comfortable experience.

The micro chip card holder has two strategically placed cut outs to make insertion and withdrawal of the card an easy one.

The micro chip card holder may or may not be made with a hole in the top corner and to one side.

An example of this invention is described by referring to the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 Shows the front of the micro chip card holder. The hole which has been strategically placed gives easy access to the microchip card and allows the card to be slid out of the holder by use of the thumb. Pressure of the thumb gently releases the micro chip card from the internal risers which in turn allows the micro chip card to slide out of the micro chip card holder.

Figure 2 This details the reverse side of the microchip card holder with a semi circular cut out along the top edge. It is this semi circle which makes insertion of the micro chip card an easy one.

Figure 3 Shows the micro chip card being held in place by the internal risers.

The micro chip card holder 5A will be made in two halves by process of injection moulding. These two halves fix together by means of interference fit.

The front of the micro chip card holder 5A has a cut out I rounded at both ends allowing for the easy withdrawal of the micro chip card.

The reverse of the micro chip card holder 5B has the semicircular cut out at the top edge. This allows the micro chip card to be easily inserted into the holder.

Internally the micro chip card holder 5 has a sloping riser 4 which grips the micro chip card 3 as it moves back into holder
