Abstract

A shoulder strap for supporting an attached object, such as a bag or guitar, over either one or both shoulders of a person has a pair of end members 1, 2 attached to an adjustable middle section by means of rectangular hoops 5, 6. The end members attach directly to the object by means of clips. The adjustable middle section comprises an overlapped, continuous length of material, the free end 3 of which can be secured to the upper surface of the strap by means of hook and loop fasteners, buttons or clips. The arrangement of the middle section can be changed by use of horizontal (11, fig 6) and diagonal (12, fig 6) bars provided on one of the connecting hoops, such that the strap can be worn over one or both shoulders. A protrusion 13 may be provided on the middle section to prevent the strap from unravelling.

Description

ONE OR TWO SHOULDERED STRAP

This invention relates to a one or two shouldered strap.

Straps are well known products that are used to secure an object to a person; the strap allows the user to have an increased level of manoeuvrability with an object. Objects used with straps include duffle bags, handbags and musical instruments such as electric guitars, bass guitars, banjos amongst others.

Straps in the main have always been single strapped or they have two individual straps (one for each shoulder). In the case of single straps used for objects such as duffle bags and guitars, the full weight of the object is supported by one shoulder only.

According to the present invention there is provided a combined one or two shouldered strap. The strap comprising of three interconnected sections linked together using one standard rectangular shaped hoop and one specially designed rectangular hoop. The end sections are made of fixed lengths of material. Like a standard single strap, the ends of this invention are connected to each end of an object. The middle adjustable section is one continuous length of material, one end of the material is fixed to the specially designed rectangular hoop whilst the unfixed end passes through the rectangular hoops overlapping itself enabling shapes required for wearing either a one shouldered or two shouldered strap.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1, Single shouldered strap schematics.

Figure 2, Profile view (overlapping detail).

Figure 3, Double shouldered strap schematics.

Figure 4, Stop mechanism.

Figure 5, Rectangular hoop No.1.

Figure 6, Rectangular hoop No.2 & section view.

Figure 7, Rectangular hoop No.2 reversed.

Referring to the drawings the One or Two Shouldered Strap comprises three inter-connecting sections Fig 1. (1, 2 and 3).

Strap schematics (for single strap use on the left shoulder) -Fig 2. shows that in the single shouldered position the middle adjustable section (3) is securely connected to the top horizontal bar of hoop two (10). Its length runs down to and around the top horizontal bar of hoop one (7), through a horizontal aligning strip (14) double lapping itself. It then runs to through the middle horizontal bar hoop two (11), moving up partially overlapping itself. In the two shoulder method of wearing the strap, the second layer (4) of the adjustable section is worn over the left shoulder; the first layer (3) is worn over the right shoulder.

The bottom horizontal bar of hoop one (8) has a fixed length of material securely connected around it that connects to the back of the object using a clip or other means.

The bottom horizontal bar of hoop two (9) has a fixed length of material that connects to the front of the object using a clip or other means.

In order to adjust the strap (from a single left shoulder position) the user holds the top of adjustable section (3) ensuring the weight of the object is held, the adjustable strap section can be adjusted by hoisting up or releasing down, it is secured by overlapping the end on top of the strap layer lying directly beneath (3) -using a means of attachment like VeIcro?M button(s) or clips(s) or other.

In order to wear the strap on two shoulders the user holds the top of adjustable section (3) ensuring the weight of the object is held and removed from the middle horizontal bar of Hoop 2 (11) and horizontal aligning strap (14). The strap is then positioned over the free right shoulder and pulled down to and through the diagonal bar of hoop two (12), the adjustable strap ection can be adjusted by hoisting up or releasing down, it is secured by over4apping the end on top of the strap layer lying directly beneath (3) using a means of (L1) attachment like Velcro, button(s) or clips(s) or other.

The stfap can be worn on either the left or right shoulder in the single shouldered position.

Hower by changing the orientation of the diagonal bar of hoop two Fig 7.); the top layer of the adjustable strap section can be worn on what wHI be the free left shoulder.

Located on the outside of the adjustable strap section is a protrusion (13) that jams between hoop one acting as a stopping mechanism to prohibit the strap from unravelling.
