Abstract

A system for reinforcing paving joints comprises elongate pieces and cross-shaped connecting pieces. In cross-section the strips and connectors have an inverted T-shape. In use the horizontal bar of the "T" is positioned beneath adjacent paving slabs with the stem of the "T" extending upwardly. The strip is perforated with circular holes in the stem and in alternate positions in the base of the strip, these provide a surface with which mortar or jointing compound can key. In use, when placed in the joint of paving slabs the system prevents differential settlement and the displacement of mortar or jointing compound.

Description

<p>This invention relates to a joint reinforcement system for
paving-Pre-c.ast concrete or natural stone paving slabs require mortar jointing to be applied. This is carried out either as the paving is laid on a bed or after laying has been completed. lt can be carried out either with wet or dry jointing compounds.</p>
<p>During service life nctudng small settlement and pressure washer cleaning the jointing mortar can become displaced.</p>
<p>The present invention is a strip that!S an inverted T shape n cross section that when installed in the joint of the paving with the head of the T held beneath the adjacent slabs, the stem of the T will sit in the joint. The strip is perforated with circular holes in the stem of the strip and in alternate positions in the base of the strip. These perforations will provide a mechanical key to hold both the strip in place in the joint and the mortar joint in place.</p>
<p>Specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which; Drawing nol showing in Plan & Elevation the reinforcement strip with two cross sections.</p>

Claims (1)

  1. <p>Claims An insert to the Jo!nt of paving slabs to reta!n of pointing
    compound applied to the joint by mechanical means.</p>
    <p>An insert to the joint of paving s!abs to reinforce the joint and prevent differential settlement of adjacent paving slabs.</p>
