Abstract
Uro-Urgency-Relief-Plus is a water extract from black cumin and carrots. It is manufactured in sterile conditions. Alcohol is added to give it up to one year's shelf life. The product improves the times required between urinations. It also improves the sexual abilities for the over-sixties and helps in the digestion of some difficult to digest foods such as pulses. Care must be taken to make sure that the alcohol used is suitable for human consumption - it must be devoid of methyl alcohol. The above mentioned improvements do not warrant any decrease in medical care, especially blood tests. In some cases the product may relieve heartburn.
Description

DESCRIPTION

CUMIN AND CARROTS FOR URO-URGENCY RELIEF

A large number of elderly people, especially those with enlarged prostates, have to urinate too frequently. Urgency for urination disrupts sleep and causes difficulties in daily activities, such as travel and shopping. The need to urinate frequently is both embarrassing and worrying, especially if buses are delayed or there is a long walk to the next public toilet.

Black cumin was chosen, because it is widely available at a reasonable price and has been in use for a very long time. It has been mentioned in old literature as improving urination.

The use of black cumin gave a reasonably encouraging result and improved the need for urination from as little as twenty minutes to about two hours.

Although this improvement was reasonable, a method of increasing the efficiency was investigated.

The fact that water-soluble fibres slow down the adsorption of nutrients offered an attractive possibility for investigation and was very successful.

The choice of carrots was due to a number of reasons: 1) Abundance and low price.

2) Appreciable content of carotene, the vegetable form of Vitamin A. Carotene can be converted by the human body to Vitamin A in the required amounts, which, due to its ready solubility in water, is harmless.

3) The greatest drawback known is that the skin becomes coloured yellow-pink and even this can be avoided by not consuming excessive amounts of carrots. In any case it was found that carrots did not have to be used in large amounts for our purpose.

4) When used in large amounts, if the project succeeds, it is expected that the by-product will be a good source of fertilizer. Carrots were found to be effective usiig less than half a kilogramme for a month's supply of the product. This amount is much less than that normally consumed by healthy people.

A simple procedure follows: FOR TWO BOTTLES OF URO-UkOENCY RELIEF a) Peel a kilogramme of carrots (1), wash, cut the larger carrots into four lengths and the smaller into two lengths.

b) Slice the carrots into pieces 4-6 mm. thick and place in a suitable size pan.

c) Add water to cover completely, bring to the boil and simmer for 10-12 minutes.

d) Strain through a stainless steel colander. The liquid is now pale yellow and the volume about 750 ml.

e) Place the extract into a suitable stainless steel pan and add two level tablespoonsfull, about 20 grammes of black cumin leaves (11). Bring to the boil and simmer for 6-8 mins.

1) Allow the cumin leaves to settle for 30-40 seconds, then decant through a stainless steel sieve. The sieve should be fine enough to prevent the cumin leaves from passing through with the product.

g) Rinse the residual cumin with hot water (2x50 mis.).

h) Divide into two equal parts of about 400 mis. each.

i) Add alcohol (111) to at least 15% strength.

NOTES

(1) The amount of carrots may be reduced to 700-750 grammes, which results in a 250 ml. product. This is an efficient way to cut costs as the alcohol needed is expensive. Using 15 mis. on alternate days, the bottle is enough for one month.

(11) The cumin used is the needle-shaped black variety, about 2-3 mm. long and available in plastic containers.

(Ill) Constant boiling point alcohol, which is 96%, is cheaper than absolute alcohol, is adequate. For a trial experiment vodka may be used. In all cases the alcohol content should be at least 15% and should not contain methyl alcohol, which can result in blindness when used excessively.
