Abstract

A method of ventilating or air conditioning a building comprises extracting air 10 from a building via a fan 7, and supplying air 5, 8 and 9 via a fan 6 to the building that has been warmed by passive solar radiation 4. The extracted air 10 may be from moisture laden rooms, such as bathrooms and kitchen and operates as a result of humidity detection by sensors. Solar energy may also used to heat water 11 for use as heating in the building via solar panels 2. The air 5 may be supplied from a roof structure of the building and positively pressurises the building.

Description

Eco-hat The main purposes of the eco hat is to: I Accommodate low energy fans to provide extract air ventilation from bathrooms and kitchens 2. Provide trickle ventilation of warm air to habitable rooms, and hence save energy for heating and improve air quality.

3. The ecohat and service module act as a conduit for the building services systems The eco-hat is essentially an air handling unit, which sits on top of the services spine and utilises low energy fan technology and solar effects to achieve these results. The form of the hat allows the added value adoption to provide passive solar water heating. The design of the eco-hat has evolved to maximise a single solar absorbent elevation positioned on a common base that could be fitted on any flat roof up stand. A common design has been created to fit any house irrespective of its orientation. The eco-hat is simply rotated to face the large solar elevation southwards.

All Eco-hat components and technologies are in the market and are currently in use, but have not been put together in this format before. The Eco-har brings all of the components together.

Key Features: Extract ventilation and Improved air quality * Low energy MEV extract ventilation removes moisture laden air and protects building fabric, whilst ensuring air quality.

HeatIng * Air within the eco hat is heated up through passive solar energy. When conditions permit, the warmed air enters a supply fan, which then circulates the air throughout the apartment This provides a passive heat source to supplement the conventional heating system, It also positively pressurises the dwelling reducing cold air infiltration and improving air quality.

* An optional extra for the eco-hat is to attach or potentially integrate solar panels, Sustainable solution * The eco-hat creates pre-heated" supply ventilation.

* The eco-hat ensures efficient use of materials.

* The eco-hat Is an adaptive design lntograted and simple solution * The eco-hat is adaptive to different house types and orientations -one solution fits all.

* All pre-manufactured. Piug 1n -theoretically Drawings Please find detailed drawings Illustrating the evolved design of the eco-hat to follow, which will illustrate the description of our invention.
