Abstract

The cover is for fitting over a single wheel or two wheels on the same axis; thus, for a thee wheel pushchair, a set of covers comprises a single wheel cover and a two-wheel cover, each having end panels and a single/multiple panel length. Each cover has an elasticated top opening and comprises a waterproof washable material.

Description

Pushchair Wheel Covers

Background

This invention relates to material covers that can be over the pushchair wheels to protect car boots, floors and the fabric of pushchairs on contact points with the wheels from dirt that the pushchair wheels may have on them from normal use.

Statement of Invention

To overcome this, the invention proposes to make material covers that are placed over the wheel to stop the transfer of dirt. These covers can be made in material that matches the designs on pushchairs or that simply matches the colour scheme.

The covers are to be made with elasticated tops so that they slip over wheels and seal with Velcro.

Advantages Pushchair canopies can become dirty from normal use due to the folding mechanism, as can house floors and car boots. These covers aim to contain any type of dirt transfer until such time that the pushchair can be cleaned.

The covers would need to be made of a waterproof, washable material. They must also be made in varying sizes according to the varying designs of pushchairs.

Introduction to Drawings

An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1: shows a basic set of wheel covers that can be used for small to large four wheel pushchairs.

Figure 2: Shows a set of wheel covers that can be used for three wheel pushchairs.

Figure 3: Shows a set of wheel covers that can be used for a tandem pushchair

Detailed Description

A set of two, three for four covers that are to be placed on the wheels of pushchairs once they have been used. They will protect any item that may come into contact with the pushchair wheels once they are dirty and the invention has been applied (fig 1-3) The covers will be from two end panels of material with either a single or multiple panelled length(s) of material to join the end panels together. Each of the panel them which the elastic could be threaded through and then sewn up. The need for the top of the covers to be elasticated is so that they can retain the dirt; this will also make them easy to slip on and off. They or another suitable fastener.

They will be made from a material that can be washed after use. This material can also be co-ordinated in design and colour with pushchairs.

The covers will come supplied with a pouch/case that can be stored in the underneath of the pushchair. The pouch/case (fig 4), could also be attached to the pushchair with Velcro, or another suitable fastener, so that they are secured to the pushchair but can be removed for cleaning.

Due to the different designs of pushchairs it would be necessary to produce different sets of covers to be able to apply them to all pushchairs.

Four wheeled pushchair covers would consist of two covers that will vary in size dependant on the size of the wheel that they must fit. They wheel size 4inch to 6inch wheel circumference, medium, to fit 6.5 inch to 10 inch wheel circumference and large, to fit 10.5 inch to 15 inch wheel circumference (fig 1).

Three wheeled pushchairs covers would have two covers. One cover would be for the front wheel on its own; a second cover would then fit on the back two wheels. The size of these covers would vary from, 8 inch -15 inch to fit the wheel circumference (fig 2).

For tandem pushchairs there that could vary from small to large, as explained above, to fit the wheel circumference.

There would also need to be two individual wheel covers that would fit over the two end wheels (fig 3).
