Abstract

A wheel slipper, for protecting flooring or for protecting the wheel (e.g. during paint spraying), comprises a cover C of flexible waterproof material shaped to fit over the periphery of the wheel having rim R and tyre T, and secured by resilient bands of elastic E sewn or bonded to the inner periphery of the cover, which may be padded. The cover may be discontinuous, e.g. for threading over a wheel carried in a cycle frame; and joined at its ends by hooks and eyes, or may be continuous for slipping over an accessible wheel. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Wheel slippers As the title suggests, this device is a means of covering wheels which are normally used outdoors to wheels which can be used indoors, without harmfull effects on the carpet or flooring due to the transfer of dirt, water or other foreign bodies picked up outside.
Some of the appliances to which this invention would apply are as follows: Pramulators.
Pushchairs.
Wheelchairs.
Bicycles.
Tricycles and Buggy's Hospital and Laboratory portable trolley's etc.
It can also be used to protect wheels, i.e. to protect against overspray when a car is being painted.
Figure 'A' on drawing attached shows the device in position after it has simply been slipped over a pram wheel, which would probably be done at the door of the home, before the pram is brought inside, thus protecting the floor.
Figure 'B' is a slight modification to the unbroken device in Fig. 'A' and would apply to wheels where it was necessary to thread the device through any framework, such as forks on bicycles, and can also be padded, to further protect the flooring.
To totally enclose one side of the device, (a bathing hat effect) would make it suitable for covering and protecting wheels, whilst in garage paintshops etc.
1. A ground wheel slipper comprising a preshaped cover of flexible waterproof material for the periphery of a ground wheel and an attachment device detachably for securing it thereto.
2. A slipper according to claim 1 wherein the cover is gathered by resilient bands.
3. A slipper according to claims 1 or 2 wherein the cover is discontinuous and an attachment device is provided for joining its ends together whereby the slipper is peripherally continuous.
4. A slipper according to claims 1, 2 or 3 wherein the peripheral cover is padded whereby floor covering is additionally protected.
5. A slipper according to any of the preceding claims wherein the peripheral cover is gathered by at least one elasticated band extending in a peripheral region thereof.
6. A ground wheel slipper substantially as and for the purpose described with reference to an illustrated in Fig. A of the attached drawings.
7. A slipper according to any of claims 1, 2, 5 or 6 having a facing of waterproof flexible material extending from the peripheral cover over one side of the slipper.
8. A ground wheel slipper substantially as and for the purpose described with reference to an illustrated in Fig. B of the attached drawings.
9. A ground wheel slipper according to any of claims 1 to 5 or 8 wherein waterproof material extends from the cover periphery over at least one side of the slipper.
