Abstract

A stand to store a sailing dinghy or similar small boat on its side, consisting of, brackets 1 joined together by bars 2. The bars 2 may be removable. The stand may be fitted with wheels or casters for ease of movement. Straps may be attached to loops 5 to secure the boat (see figures 3 and 4) in place.

<p>I</p>
<p>Boat Store This invention relates to a stand, which enables sailing dinghies or other similar small boats to be stored on their side.</p>
<p>When boats are not being used they need to be stored some where. They are bulky items, which tend to take up a lot of room and can fill a garage when stored in the conventional manner.</p>
<p>This stand aims to solve this problem by storing the boat on a framework on its side, where it will take up considerably less space. The stand can be fitted with castors so the boat can be moved to a convenient storage place once mounted on the stand.</p>
<p>An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows the complete stand.</p>
<p>Figure 2 shows the "U' shaped bracket 1.</p>
<p>Figure 3 shows the stand with a boat in place.</p>
<p>Figure 4 shows an end view of the stand with a boat in place with the gunwale located against the upright 3.</p>
<p>The stand consists of two "L" shaped brackets 1, joined together by two bars 2, these may be removable when the stand is not in use. The bottom tip of bracket 1 has an upright attached 3 to stop the edge (gunwale) of the boat sliding off. The hull leans against the vertical part of the bracket, and the boat can be secured in place by straps on to loops 5. The brackets may be fitted with casters 4 to enable the stand loaded with a boat to be maneuvered to a suitable storage position.</p>
