Abstract

243,506. Ayliffe, H. Nov. 3, 1924. Delivery of articles stored in piles.-In coin. freed apparatus in which a plurality of drawers are provided which can be. selectively operated by the insertion of a coin or coins in a common slot, the drawers are automatically freed after prepayment in such a manner that any one may be pulled out, the pulling out of that drawer automatically locking the others in closed posi. tion. The apparatus comprises a number of drawers 1, Fig. 1, each having a draw-rod 2 with knob 3, and an aperture 4 through which the lowest article of a corresponding column falls tc an inclined delivery tray when a drawer is pulled out. Extending rearwardly from each drawer is a flat bar 5 having V-notches 6 with which the pointed ends of locking-bars 7 are adapted to engage, the bars 7 being arranged in sets of one, two or three in stepped formation between the bars 5 and at right-angles to them. The ends of the bars 7 have slight clearances from the notches 6 and, when one drawer is pulled out, the V-notches of its extension 5 press the other ends of the adjacent locking-bars into engagement with the notches in the extensions of the adjacent drawers, thereby locking them in closed position. The remaining drawers are locked because certain of the bars 7 are connected to move in unison by rods 8. Coin action, weight; coin-discharging mechanism.-Inclined cam-pieces 16 on a slidable bar 15 which is normally locked by a projection 13 on a weighted lever 12 engaging teeth 14 thereon, obstruct rollers 17 on the extensions 5 and prevent the drawers from being pulled out until after prepayment. A coin inserted through a shoot into a bucket 11 pivoted at 19 on the lever 12 tilts the lever and frees the rod 15. When a drawer is pulled out, the rod 15 is moved longi. tudinally against a spring 18 and a cam 20 thereon tilts the bucket 11 about its pivot to discharge the coin. The bucket is then returned by a spring 21. Testing coins. - The coin shoot is inclined slightlv towards one side and has an aperture in that side through which small coins fall.
